One for Mudcatters in Birmingham (Not Alabama missus, West Midlands UK). Please pass this info on to local folk clubs and anyone else who might be interested. Mudcatters involved in this project include Richard Bridge, who took care of all the legal details at no cost to BCAB, and Clive(Wild Rover)Lever and myself, A.K.A. Sic Transit, the co-producers of the CD.
BTW. Can anyone give contact details for West Midlands Morris people or the local Morris Federation?
Thanks to all

BCAB is an UK organisation of visually impaired people who use information and communications technology. Who Is Les Barker? Excerpt From A Short Biography, From The Age Of Three Until Nearly Teatime.

Les Barker writes strange poems and comes from Manchester. He was an accountant before he became a professional idiot. He's written 68 books, which sell in large numbers at his gigs mainly because people don't quite believe what they've just heard. His poems have spawned a number of folk heroes: Jason and the Arguments, Cosmo the Fairly Accurate Knife Thrower, Captain Indecisive and Spot of the Antarctic, to name but two.
Les has several solo albums to his credit: 'Dogologues', An Infinite Number Of Occasional Tables', 'A Cardi And Bloke', 'Up The Creek Without A Poodle' and his new album, 'Arovertherapy.'   http://www.mrsackroyd.com/welcome.htm

The British Computer Association of the Blind wishes to thank all the artists and everybody involved for their total support of this project in their own time and at no cost.

The (double) CD "Guide Cats for the Blind" is hilarious and well worth buying. I especially love the tracks of Cyril Tawney singing two parodies of his own songs and Martin Carthy singing "The Hard Cheese of Old England" - if you haven't got a copy yet - get one.

I second that, Dave. Our Micca sent me a set and it's been a constant favorite. "The Dog Formerly Known as Prince" and "Spot of the Antarctic" are house faves.

Surely the title of this thread is a mistake? I am sure it should be "Blind Dogs for the Guides", a well-known Charity.

LES BARKING-MAD
COSMO THE VERY INACCURATE MACHINE-GUNNER*
SNOTT OF THE ANTARCTIC

* = Reminds me of my Uncle Fred, who won the Victoria Cross for saving the lives of a whole regiment of men during the War - he shot the cook. Then there was Uncle Sidney, who fought with the Army, the Navy and the Air Force - he just couldn't get along with anyone. When war broke out, cousin Billy was only 14, but like many others he lied about his age - he said he was 74. Auntie Betty was only unfaithful to her husband twice during the war - once with the milkman, and once with the Household Cavalry.

Les Barker will appear on the Late Show BBC Midlands with Alan Clifford on 8th July to publicise Live Cats. Nonny James will also participate in the programme.
Here is a list of the regions that the show will be heard in.

East Midlands:
Radio Lincolnshire
Radio Derby
Radio Nottingham
Radio Leicester

West Midlands:
Hereford & Worcester
Radio Shropshire
Radio Stoke

Unfortunately BBC WM & Coventry & Warwickshire do not take this feed which eminates from BBC Nottingham. It is hoped that separate arrangements will be made for BBC WM, but in the meantime, if you're in their catchment area, please request airplay if there's a folk programme on the missing stations, or one that places an emphasis on comedy or poetry.

There will be competitions on the show. It should give concert a major boost.
