Subject: Query 1 - Mudcatters locations? From: Freddie Fox Date: 23 Oct 99 - 05:46 PM I'm new to this game, so please forgive me if I'm asking silly questions. Is there a list anywhere on the forum with, say e-mail addresses and cities/countries where mudcatters live? It just occured to me that if any mudcatter had cause to visit a place where they have no contacts, the offer of a sofa for the night or a meet up at a friendly local pub could be quite good. For starters, I live in Yeadon, Leeds, - on e-mail it's julia.chantrell@lineone.net, and I'd be very happy to see anyone. What does everyone else think? |
Subject: RE: Query 1 - Mudcatters locations? From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 23 Oct 99 - 06:00 PM Freddie, that is available, sort of. Look under bbc's Mudcat Resources. She maintains a web-page with b'days, and e-mail and I think pictures of many of the resident Mudcatters. Go to the Quick Links selector up at the top. Check out the second from the bottom of the list. That'll take you there. |
Subject: RE: Query 1 - Mudcatters locations? From: katlaughing Date: 23 Oct 99 - 07:03 PM Freddie, here is a link to a thread we had last January called "Where do Mudcatters live?". There are a lot of postings on there, but there have also been a lot of new members since then, so I'm glad you started this thread. There were several more threads back then about Mudcatters, i.e. "What do Mudcatters do" (profession-wise) and a few others. For an explanation of how to find those old threads, please see my last posting on the current "help with chords" thread. A lot of time, if someone knows they are going to be in a certain area, they will start a thread asking if anyone will be near there when they will be. Lots of Mudcatters ahve conncected that way, too. And, without sounding too paranoid, please remember this is a public forum, so anyone in the world can come on here and read your presonal information. Some of us have listed our email addys etc. on bbc's Mudcat resources page. To do that, you need to send her an email. You can find that page by going up to the righthand top and click on Quick Links, choose BBC's Mudcat Resources, then GO. From there on it is pretty self-explanatory. Have fun! katlaughinginWyoming |
Subject: RE: Query 1 - Mudcatters locations? From: bill\sables Date: 24 Oct 99 - 03:31 AM Say Freddie, If you want to meet a few catters in your own area why not bring your instrument and come along to the JUG at Chapel Haddlesey on Wednesday nights. From Yeadon get onto the M62 and travel East to the A19, Turn left towards Selby and when you cross the River Aire turn right for about 100 yds, and you will see the Jug. There are about 7 or 8 of us there every wednesday night and you might even like the music as well. It a session where anything goes. Cheers Bill |
Subject: RE: Query 1 - Mudcatters locations? From: paddymac Date: 24 Oct 99 - 06:39 AM Freddie - you can also send a message to any member via the "Personal Pages". That avoids many of the problems noted above. Just open the Personal pages, scroll down to "Messages", click on "send a message" and follow the directions. Easy. Welcome aboard! |
Subject: RE: Query 1 - Mudcatters locations? From: Freddie Fox Date: 24 Oct 99 - 08:27 AM Wow. I went to the previous thread, but I didn't realise how many of you there were. I would like to volunteer to collate the info - trouble is, I haven't the foggiest how to link it or create a web page or anything 'cos I'm a real dork. However, I'll have a go at making a straight list, and then maybe someone can volunteer to take it from there. Cheers for the invite to the JUG - I'd love to come, but it may have to wait until I get my car back! |
Subject: RE: Query 1 - Mudcatters locations? From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Oct 99 - 12:00 PM Hi Freddie If I haven't said it before, welcome to the 'Cat. Since we ran that previous thread, we have come a long ways in learning more about each other and we are, in many cases, a lot more open than what we were then. But as Katmyluv said, this is a public forum and anyone can access it. There have been quite a few occasions where Mudcatters have gotten together and some of the pictures are on bbc's Mudcat Resources (Events). You may also enjoy looking at the individual pictures as it gives you an idea of the person you're BSing with....kinda' fun, ya' know? Be sure to check out the little guy's picture too...that's Cleigh O'Possum, a Mudcat Icon, so to speak. Spaw...in a tiny village in SE Ohio, (Bremen) |

Subject: RE: Query 1 - Mudcatters locations? From: Micca Date: 27 Oct 99 - 09:41 PM To Bill/sables, I am not sure a "locality of Mudcatters" would be the correct collective term, A shoal? a jollity? a file or Folder? a pub-full? or perhaps in the Anglo-Saxon a "piss-take of Mudcatters" might be more accurate(a very gentle p/take)any suggestions from the wordplay and pun-lovers as to what the correct term might be? maybe we should start a new Thread? |
