I have seen CD's releases of all of Lonnie's Pye Nixa material, can't remember which label, mabye Sequel. All the early albums + addition of non album tracks. There was also a 2CD copillation with all the singles from the 50's to "World Cup Willie." I will go and check at the shop I saw them, when I get a chance, if you haven't got details before that. That's in the UK (Scotland by the way.
love, john.

The Endvour public house in Whitby North Yorkshire UK has a CD featuring Lonnie Donigan and Van Morrison record at a charity bash that they held to raise money. After they both suffered heart atacts. The play it regularly it a great album. However I do not have details of all the tracks on the CD.I belive one of there regular customers went to the concert when it was recorded and bought the Album. He later gave it to the Pub's Landlord and Landlady as a present. Its we worth a lisent to if you can get hold of a copy.

This is not a great deal of help for those particular tracks, but for what it's worth there's a CD called 'Lonnie Donegan - Skiffle Sensation' (Pye Records Originals). It's a 1998 release on the Castle Select label SELCD 539, it has 26 tracks from 1 - Midnight Special through 13 - Don't You Rock Me Daddy-O to 26 - Pick a Bale of Cotton, but it doesn't include any of the titles that you mention above. Lonnie also appears on a recently released double CD called 'As Good As It Gets - Skiffle Volume 2' on the Disky label in the Netherlands DO999862, I got my copy through HMV Direct. That has a total of 60 tracks of which 8 tracks are by Donegan, but, here again, none of the tracks that you're looking for.

OK Peter, I found it.
The album you are looking for is "Lonnie".
This has been released as "Lonnie...Plus" on Sequel. Released 28/02/00. Cat No: NEMCD343.
This seems to be one of seven albums released in this fashion plus the double compliation I mentioned above.
The company is called Sanctuary Records who have bought over Castle Music. The website is

www.sanctuaryrecordsgroup.co.uk

or

They don't seem to sell direct but say you can order from any high street store using above info.
love, john.

I'm fairly sure that the track "Ain't No More Cane On The Brazos" was one of two on an album by the Chris Barber Jazz Band. I can't recall what the other track was. In other words, this was before he had a skiffle group or a solo career.

"Ain't No More Cane On The Brazos" is, for me, Lonnie Donegan at his best. I found and downloaded it recently from a site called winmx.comI It was a slow tedious business but worth it.

I think the one Tyke is referring to is "The Skiffle Sessions", Lonnie, Van, Chris Barber and guests (including Dr John). I'll dig it out when I get home and get the details.
