Subject: FSGW 2006 Getway Pix From: Wincing Devil Date: 05 Nov 06 - 09:42 PM This was my first getaway. I'm now convinced that there are bodies behind such handles as Mmmmmmmmmario, Joe Offer, Big Mick, Janie and others, including the fizgoo-ers who hang out here. My pix are here |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getway Pix From: wysiwyg Date: 05 Nov 06 - 10:06 PM They didn't pay up to keep the pix private? Just kidding-- thanks for sharing! ~Susan |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getway Pix From: Annie Date: 05 Nov 06 - 10:23 PM Let's see if I can do this link for pictures. This seems a little wierd posting before the Sunday night concert is even finished! Blown away by this Getaway. I'd tell you all about my special moments but I'm afraid I'd leave someone out. I shed several tears and laughed heartily. Ah, but we are so blessed. So much music, so little time. Thanks for letting me be a part. Much appreciation to ALL the volunteers who made this possible. Love to all, Annie http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeoxvdj/getaway2006 |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getway Pix From: Wincing Devil Date: 05 Nov 06 - 10:27 PM I will be posting a video of Saturday Nights Blackmail Event to YouTube. No one has met my minimum bid to NOT upload it. |

Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getway Pix From: Ebbie Date: 05 Nov 06 - 11:59 PM My gracious- I'm going to be haunting those sites. I've seen only about 115 of Wincing Devil's yet and now Annie's, too! Thank you, thank you! |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getway Pix From: KT Date: 06 Nov 06 - 12:21 AM Awww.... I LOVE those people~!! Thanks, WD, for sharing the pics with those of us who weren't there. KT |

Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getway Pix From: GUEST,Dani Date: 06 Nov 06 - 03:16 PM Damn. They look WARM! Dani |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getway Pix From: Big Mick Date: 06 Nov 06 - 04:24 PM We were warm, indeed, Dani. And you were greatly missed, as was KT, Ebbie, Jeri, and all the regulars. This was an exceptional Getaway, great workshops, wonderful guests, and an excellent facility. It was like night and day. I don't miss one thing about Ramblewood. There were many highlights, and I am sure we will all post many rememberances. It was a doozy. One of the highlights for me was sitting and singing with John Roberts and Dick Greenhaus until 6:00 AM. These lads have so many songs in their heads and they just kept going and going. Amazing. All in all, a memorable gathering, full of fellowship, wonderful music, and good times. Perfect ....... well there was one bad moment on Saturday night, but we will just skip by that. It seemed like a tribute to bestiality....... but what happens at West River, MD stays in West River, MD........ LOL. Mick |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: GUEST, Ebbie Date: 06 Nov 06 - 05:53 PM Whut? |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Tinker Date: 06 Nov 06 - 06:18 PM I've been home nearly two hours, but I'm only part way back to reality. Ebbie when you get to Wincing Devil's 142 and go on through you'll see that somehow Mz Mary mangaged to organize a major production number on Saturday night. Like Mick there were many pleasant new features. Dani did you notice in the pictures that folks were singing in T shirts while there was frost on the cars ??!!! I'm not ready to start on memories they are all still sorting through and supper is not yet on the table. I'm waiting to hear from some of the Main-e-acks to check in from the straight through drive. More later.... |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Big Mick Date: 06 Nov 06 - 08:27 PM Here is a Getaway Memories thread for the 2006 event. |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Wincing Devil Date: 06 Nov 06 - 09:07 PM I was in such a hurry to get the pix up, I misspelled the name of the thread! JudyO (momnopp) pointed out some misnamed pictures STARTING WITH HER OWN! AARRGGHH!! All in all, I, for one, had a great time! Looking forward to next year! |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Nov 06 - 09:50 PM Tink-- you mean, in the past they didn't wear T-shirts??? ~S~ |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Nancy King Date: 06 Nov 06 - 10:07 PM I think Tinker's just reveling in the fact that the buildings were heated. It was very cold outside, but we were real toasty indoors. In fact, some of the buildings were downright hot. It turned out the heat is adjustable, but a bit unpredictable. It'll take practice to get it right (not unlike music...) We all had a fine time, but it might take a little while to jumpstart the brain cells to write coherent reports... I tried to add a few captions on the pix, but they haven't shown up. BTW, note how well Barry Finn looks! WAAAY better than last year! Nancy |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Wincing Devil Date: 06 Nov 06 - 10:30 PM The Captions submitted via the "Suggest Captions" are at http://www.WincingDevil.com/captions.htm I have to update that page semi-manually, because cyber-naughties have been putting obscene captions in. |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Tinker Date: 07 Nov 06 - 06:45 AM WYS, in the past I've been known to walk around at night and hand out old winter coats to the poor frozen singers who are so inebri==enthralled with their own music they barely notice they are turning blue. The warmth did make it much easier to loose track of time altogether. tink |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: MMario Date: 07 Nov 06 - 09:16 AM It was "brisk" outside - but not bad - in fact the impatiens planted by one of the cabins were still blooming until monday morning. (and gardeners know how tender and sensative they are to frosts!) first time I'd ever been in the area for foliage season - made me homesick for New England. |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: catspaw49 Date: 07 Nov 06 - 02:08 PM HEY.....WINCING ONE......Thanks for the photos and their ongoing captions but where is the video? I never make it to these things but a little video would be great......and a good tool as well. Spaw |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Tinker Date: 07 Nov 06 - 03:38 PM Spaw, Mick spent and inordinate amount of time moaning about video, the end of life as he knows it and "what-would/will-Spaw-say" seemed to be of great concern.....I haven't seen the footage Barry shot for me, but I have no clue how to upload.... it's not in my interest to learn tink |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Amos Date: 07 Nov 06 - 07:18 PM If anyone wants to send me sounds captured during the Getaway (musical ones, I mean, preferably made with instruments and voice) I will be happy to (a) post them somewhere so they can be played by others ad (b) make a composite CD of them for distro as desired. I took very few photos myself and am very grateful to others who made up the difference. As to video, I don't suppose one survived the trip. A |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: GUEST,Nancy King at work Date: 07 Nov 06 - 07:53 PM Annie, you take beautiful portraits! Thanks! |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Wincing Devil Date: 08 Nov 06 - 12:11 AM The video is over 300MB, I got to jimmy it down for YouTube. I'll post the link when I do. If nobody's met my blackmail demand, up she goes! |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Amos Date: 08 Nov 06 - 11:18 AM WD: What are you demanding? Mick and I stand prepared to negotiate.... A |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Leadfingers Date: 08 Nov 06 - 11:24 AM And some of us will out bid them !! We want to see the evidence !! |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Maryrrf Date: 08 Nov 06 - 12:40 PM I'll join forces with Mick and Amos to come up with the blackmail money. I don't want that video to be made public! |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: jacqui.c Date: 08 Nov 06 - 12:44 PM Having seen the 2005 video I can't see why this year's victims shouldn't share the pain! I'm all for seeing this year's one. |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Amos Date: 08 Nov 06 - 06:00 PM Come to think of it Jacqui-me-luv, how come we didn't see your Dignity being completely undone in a Pink Bird costume this year? A |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Bill D Date: 08 Nov 06 - 07:14 PM now, now Amos...your 'costume' was the most elegantly fitted and adjusted of all! You should proud to have the world see how well you manifest the reality and spirit of the Olde West! "Come a cow, cow punchy, Punchy, punchy cow, cow, cow..." |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: GUEST,Dani Date: 08 Nov 06 - 07:45 PM What a lovely way to raise money!! Some of us will chip in and bid to make it public, some to keep it private. Dani ; ) |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Amos Date: 08 Nov 06 - 08:13 PM Well it is true my costume was more, er, rampant than Mick's, but he had a bigger role. Not a complaint, you understand. A |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: jacqui.c Date: 09 Nov 06 - 11:20 AM I was there and in costume - I just had the sense to use a mask as well. Mind you, I had made good use of the white cranberry juice before going on stage. He he he he he........... |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: jacqui.c Date: 09 Nov 06 - 11:45 AM I didn't take too many pics this year but those I did are at http://www.flickr.com/groups/49407444@N00/

Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Ferrara Date: 09 Nov 06 - 08:52 PM Well there are still so many people whose names I don't know! Once we have our computer back (if & when?), I'm planning to download lots of these posted pictures for a Getaway 2006 Memory Book for us and for Darriel. Suspect I'll have to revive this thread at that time & ask for help with names. Rita F |

Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Janie Date: 11 Nov 06 - 12:05 AM Amos was having wwaayyyy too much fun! I better mark that video 'inappropriate' before my youngin' sees what his mom runs off to do every year about this this time! Janie |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Amos Date: 11 Nov 06 - 01:07 AM Well, I was adding a touch of realism, is all, not easy to do in a crowded hall while controlling a runaway herd of ducks. Artistic touch, certainly, but totally unappreciated... A |
Subject: RE: FSGW 2006 Getaway Pix From: Tinker Date: 11 Nov 06 - 07:58 AM Crowd scenes are good. Dang that whip crack still makes me jump. tink |
