OK, I have already started on my list of things to bring to the Getaway.

Crytalyzed Ginger tbd pounds ( units of 5 pounds)

Chocolate          suf quant (ie, as much as I can carry)

Various Instruments

100+ year old books that have song lyrics ( New Century Magazine, etc)

Computer Keyboards, for all those who have ruined theirs reading some of these threads.


Further suggestions would be gratefully received.

One thing I'm happy to report I won't be bringing is 15 blankets...

I took my MD and never used it Bobert, mind you I was suffering quite badly from jetlag, and missed out on quite a lot of the fun last year.
This year I'm arriving a couple of days before, so's I get a chance to acclimatise.
So I guess I'll try to bring my wideawake head this year!
Might bring a tacky pressy or two to try for the revenge of the Ewetopians.

Hopefully I am bringing Marylou and Ciara, but I will sure be bringing my old behind and some great songs. Hopefully my new ensemble will be together by then, and we will see if I can bring some of those folks. Mostly I am bringing a lot of love for friends and a desire to make music with you all.

Lets hope the camp directors do not read these threads....(The Ramblewood director DID a few times!)

We WILL have to deal with the 'refreshment' issue, as this is a Methodist camp.
As was mentioned in the other thread, Ramblewood was an 'interesting' exception in the Getaway history. They specifically catered to strangeness....from SCA folks to nudists, and they coped with alcohol partly by not having much that could easily be damaged by drink OR exuberant consumers. This camp, West River, has a lot 'nicer' rooms and such...besides having a moral element in the decision. I do NOT imagine that anyone will be conducting late night inspections of our rooms, but as this is our first year there, we will need to carefully adjust to the situation. (Short version...don't do anything that is obvious, and ***NOTHING** in the trash!)

I suggest an 'Empties patrol' With their own supply of refuse sacks, preferably 3 ply paper sacks too, with an anti leakage plastic sack as a liner.

mebbe something like that, but the 'fair' way might be for everyone personally to 'take out what you brung in'.
It may depend on where the camp keeps its trash. WE can't be seen sneaking bags into a dumpster if the camp staff usually does the dumping.....gotta investigate.

Yes of course we must all be responsible for our own trash, but there may be 'accidents' As for dumping, it needs to be taken away from the camp location and disposed of elsewhere to be on the safe side.

Hum...bottles and cans...does Maryland recycle? Is there a recycling point nearby? They are at all the grocers here, and the sight of people coming in to dump that kind of trash is normal.

Parts of Maryland do indeed recycle...it is largely a county/city thing, but areas with enough population usually do.

(Having a LARGE van, and living in MD, I can sort of suggest that IF you were to find that you 'accidently' discovered some suspect bottles and cans, and had no notion of what to do with them, and were to bag them and to locate me as you are leaving, that I could manage to get them to a proper recycling place.)

Does that mean the electric situation will be a little better than Ramblewood as well? I remember regularly plugging in a hairdryer to warm up from the cold shower and blowing the fuse.

That reminds me... I left an electric radiator-type heater at Ramblewood a couple years ago, and it never did show back up. Anyone find it in their garage?

Sounds like the good news is that we'll not be needing those things to keep warm this year! Good thing, too, since the bunks are single....
