Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway 2006- Photos of Camp From: karen k Date: 26 Oct 06 - 08:26 PM Great pictures, Bill. Really wish I was coming. My hat is off to the selection crew. Looks like a great site. Have a great time all. Next year for sure!!!!! k |

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway 2006- Photos of Camp From: Ebbie Date: 26 Oct 06 - 09:00 PM Beautiful. All that - and heat too! Thanks for the photo display, Bill. I saw and heard and did a lot but I sure missed a lot too. Three ring circuses leave a lot to be desired... |
Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway 2006- Photos of Camp From: Bill D Date: 26 Oct 06 - 09:17 PM Well, whe YOU come next year, Ebbie, it will be easier to catch half of one workshop and then switch...no hills and a lot closer together. My personal dream is to have a 4-5 day Getaway, where we run some popular things twice and have some 'free' breaks between workshops, but the price of camps being what it is.... |
Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway 2006- Photos of Camp From: karen k Date: 26 Oct 06 - 10:02 PM Oooooh!! Bill what a wonderful idea. 4-5 days. Let's think about it. I'm sure others would be interested. Thurs. to Mon. would be good. That would allow all day Thurs. and Fri. for those who want to come early and the regular Getaway Fri. to Mon. as usual. I'd love that. Anyway, let's dream. I think they do something in CA that is a week in length. k |

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway 2006- Photos of Camp From: Amos Date: 27 Oct 06 - 11:59 AM The Strawberry Festival, one of CA's oldest regular folk events, runs longer than a weekend, I am sure. Ask Ranger. A |

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway 2006- Photos of Camp From: Janie Date: 27 Oct 06 - 10:47 PM Thanks for the photos, Bill. Looks like a nice place in terms of facilities. I hope management can stand the extremely varied likes of us. I think the fact that it is a Methodist church camp, combined with my upbringing, has me feeling a little paranoid--like we can't relax and just be ourselves, unless our selves are 'born again' Christians. And you know I'm not a drinker--it's not that. And I'm clear it is my hardshell Baptist ancestry that is kickin' in here. I am sure all will be wonderfully well and amazingly restorative, as have all my Getaway experiences been. I am apparently the only person around who is going to miss Camp Ramblewood. This ol' hillbilly woman wasn't much bothered by the cold or the climbs, and I liked the tolerant nature of the management. (and I ain't talkin' about open alcohol.) I understand the need to move to a place where those with mobility issues can get around better--but I'm still gonna miss Ramblewood. It was a beautiful setting, the dorm style cabins promoted getting acquainted quickly with people, as did the relatively easy-to-bear hardship of the the cold. Wow. In a week we will be there! Janie |
Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway 2006- Photos of Camp From: KT Date: 27 Oct 06 - 11:38 PM You know, Janie, I've got a soft spot in my heart for Ramblewood, too.....sweet memories.... |

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway 2006- Photos of Camp From: Gorgeous Gary Date: 28 Oct 06 - 12:00 PM Looks good, Bill! Just one observation...it looks like the lounges and the retreat center are furnished with just armchairs or sofas. It would probably be a good idea to move some stacking/folding chairs into any of those places that are going to be used for singing. Us guitarists will be grateful! -- Gary |
Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway 2006- Photos of Camp From: GUEST,Nancy King at work Date: 28 Oct 06 - 12:22 PM We're way ahead of you, Gary. We asked about this on our first visit, and were assured that each lounge has a supply of folding chairs readily available. With any luck, this will prove true! See you soon, Nancy |

Subject: RE: FSGW Getaway 2006- Photos of Camp From: Gorgeous Gary Date: 01 Nov 06 - 09:00 PM Cool! I figured y'all would have the situation well in hand. But the SF-conrunner in me just had to make sure. I've turned up at a convention or two to find the filksing scheduled in the Boardroom. With only the fancy armchairs provided... -- Gary |
