I am knackered!! day 2 of this Festival was alot of FUN!! meeting and greeting many old friends and then dancing the Jack in the Green for the closing Ritual!!!! the jack weighs in at 60+pounds of frame and greenery and led the Circle Dance for about 20 minutes, then had various other dancing parts to do and finally his last dance , before being"killed" to release the spirit of Summer and everyone took a piece of green from Him home to carry the promise of Summer with them. It was a lot of fun, meeting old friends, renewing friendships, and getting re acquainted with folks I hadnt seen for a while. Really First class day, you have my permission to feel sorry you missed it!!

we had our regular Beltaine weekend happening,,
Its organized at a co-op farm in the fraser valley (here in BC)
and we have fiddle tunes inside, a quest (usually based on some
bit of folkore or mythology and the participants walk the quest around the farm - and interact with the various characters (this year it was Jack and the Beanstalk, in previous years it was Orpheus in the Underworld, Pyramus and Thisbe etc..)

Then there is a potluck dinner, followed by the Maypole procession..
planting and dancing around it while the musician huddle underneath the
ribbons, its always fun watching newcomers when the direction is reversed and the ribbons unravel. .Theres 25years of ribbons on the maypole some from people who are not with us anymore..

welcome in the summer..
Petr

I thought your dog was much bigger? Or, is that black thing a really large, strangely shaped cat?:-)

Thanks!

My garden is blooming with snow white and purple flowers today, white roses, lily of the valley, clematis and a stunning arum lily that's the size of a teaplate. The last of the violets are smiling in the dapple shade of the potato patch (no potatoes yet, but lots of wheat shoots - damn messy eaters those tits) and the periwinkle is basking in the sun like a purple, sleeping cat. The dark burgundy aquilegia is about to pop and the ivy looks like it was newly painted in shades of green, yellow and cream.

Later today, I've some runner beans to go in, once I've got some good compost down.

Driving to Hertfordshire on Sunday, the countryside was ablaze with hawthorn (may) and rapeseed, it was worth getting lost - Sumer is definately a cumin in!

Merry May

Happy Beltane and a blessed season to everyone.

Rat-W, ShadyLady and I were up on Breedon Hill this morning and for once we did see the sun come up. Beautifully red as it slid over the horizon. A bit unfortunate that the pollution caused it to appear pixilated until it got clear of the edge, but it was beautiful and we who have watched it and danced and sung to it have ensured it's rising again for another MayDay

Paul and I held our Beltane Ritual last night....May Eve. Cast circle, welcomed the God and Goddess, did a couple of spells. Welcomed in the summer hoping the sun would rise again in the morning. I woke this morning to see the sun rise in all its glory and welcomed in the summer.

Its a glorisous day here today. Tonight we will go up to Lady Penelope's gathering in Chingford.

Bright Beltane Blessings to all

Khatt x

A little late in the day, I know, but thanks to Micca, I remembered! So, to those of you who wish it:

Make a wish o'er the fire, as the sacred wood burns, as the herbs turn to ash, and the Wheel slowly turns. Dance in the meadow - dance round the Pole - let the spirit that moves us, take flight in your soul. Blessed Beltane
