Subject: RE: BS: Funny Bumper Stickers - Part FOUR From: Phot Date: 29 Apr 07 - 06:49 PM Its a Discovery sort of, as 422 off the production line. It has Range Rover chassis, axles, gearbox(LT77), bulkhead, inner wings, mirrors, Montego van rear lights, Morris Marina door handles, Mini Metro clocks, and headlights from a Sherpa van! Parts bin special, the first Disco's were all of that, but 18 years later she's still going strong, looking and sounding(V8) as good as the day she rolled out of Lode Lane. Its a Landrover, and no git in goverment will stop me enjoying the old girl! (She'll probably out do me!) Wassail!! Chris. |

Subject: RE: BS: Funny Bumper Stickers - Part FOUR From: Midchuck Date: 29 Apr 07 - 11:11 AM My favorite one of all time requires knowing Pogo upside down and backwards, chapter and verse, but there are many old geezers out there who do, judging by the responses to an old thread on Deck Us All with Boston Charlie. This was custom made for my wife's VW Rabbit in the 70s. We called it Bun. The bumpersticker said "I Carry the Hose." I said you had to know Pogo! But everyone who really matters does know Pogo upside down and backward, chapter and verse. When my daughter was 9 or so, she was reading one of the older books, and laughed. I asked, what was funny? She said, a frog jumped out of M'amzell Hebzibah's cake and the Rackety Coon chile shot it with a water pistol. I said, oh yeah, "Leetle Rocket Coon Chile, you have save ze Hepzibah's life!" One of the few times I really impressed my daughter. Small victories are important. Do you remember seeing "Good, Though!" about 20 years before Utah recorded it (and that was more than 30 years ago)? Peter |

Subject: RE: BS: Funny Bumper Stickers - Part FOUR From: saulgoldie Date: 28 Apr 07 - 12:47 PM Not a bumper sticker, but...I saw this vanity plate back in the 80s in DC when I was a bicycle courier. It read: TIH2WA I puzzled on it for a few moments. When I rode, I always had a rearview mirror on my helmet. When the car passed, the joke became instantly clear. A local newspaper columnist wrote about it sometime later, raising a BIG ole hue and cry about the travelling obscenity that kids must be protected from (as opposed to the obscenity of WAR). People protested, and the message reached the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles), and they revoked the plate. Some people just have NO sense of humor! But wherever people laugh and share bumper stickers and vanity plates, it lives on. |
