Subject: RE: BS: Funny Bumper Stickers - Part FOUR From: GUEST,Ingrid Frances Stark Date: 25 Oct 05 - 08:14 PM Saw this pair on the back of an 18-wheeler: on the left, "Passing side", on the right, "Suicide". Others I've seen: On the back of a Jeep: "Poor Man's Hummer" BU**SH** I heard the bumper sticker round on NPR once, years ago: Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty (repeat) If you cannot change your mind, are you sure you still have one? (repeat) If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy? (repeat) Practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty (repeat) This inspired the name of a now disbanded a capella group I was in during the early 90's: Senseless Acts of Harmony (we practiced random music). I had a passle of bumper stickers on my last van, but I got tired of the tailgators who just wanted to read them. My current truck has no stickers, and as a deterrent, I have a black spiked dogtoy on my trailer hitch ball. Ingrid |

Subject: RE: BS: Funny Bumper Stickers - Part FOUR From: moongoddess Date: 10 Oct 05 - 06:40 PM This is a story about a bumper sticker that is right up there with all the other weird stories. In the early 70's, when Nixon was President and in that Watergate mess, I had a bumper sticker on my blue VW that said "Honk if you think he is guilty." My husband at the time worked for the EPA and he came home one night and told me his boss wanted me to remove that bumper sticker from my car. Good ol' oppositional me said no of course. A few days later my car was towed from our driveway. The reason given was that I was behind in my car payments - not true. When we went to get the car it was missing just one thing - that bumper sticker. |

Subject: RE: BS: Funny Bumper Stickers - Part FOUR From: Bill D Date: 06 Oct 05 - 12:38 PM you want a funny bumper sticker? I'll show you a funny bumpersticker! Well, maybe not so funny these days..... In the early 1970s, during the gas crisis, EPA decided to promote the national speed limit with clever bumperstickers They were put out on display at EPA headquarters in Wash DC, where I was working on a temporary assignment, and I manage to get 3 of them (and one other that said "The Faster You Go, the Richer They Get!") Someone with sense took one look and within 2 days, they were all withdrawn and, I suppose destroyed.....gee...maybe it's time I put one on my big van! |

Subject: RE: BS: Funny Bumper Stickers - Part FOUR From: GUEST,Chief Chaos Date: 05 Oct 05 - 12:55 PM One of our engineers bought a badly abused dodge stationwagon. It looked so bad that we immediately thought of the "Family Truckster" from National Lampoon's Family Vacation. We took our Oscar dummy (man overboard manakin), wrapped it in a blanket and tied it sitting-up on the roof of the wagon. We then made a bumpersticker and put it on it's back. It said "Wallyworld or Bust!" Another we made for the car said "Puff the Tragic Wagon" |
