I wonder what "Shakey" and "Nickel" are. Gerry Myerson says "Shakey" is Los Angeles - I used to live there, and never heard that term.
And Gerry says "Nickel" is Buffalo, New York - as in Buffalo nickel. And I'm supposing LA is "Shakey" because of earthquakes.

Witchgirl: Thanks for posting that! I just listened to it on Spotify, and I must say, Bill's control of his falsetto on those "Do do do" lines is truly impressive. I wonder if he can still do that? (He recorded it in 1977 when he was 30; he's now 68.)

hey joe.. too many favorites to mention...... even to consider start posting.....

sunny road, roseville fair, blue eyed mountain maid, Where i live, Ol' Pen, Wyoming Home, bridges, spirit song, only a song, i sang for her a song, rye whiskey joe, old silver, music to me, child of mine, the sampler song, so sang the river, etc......

some of these he dosn't even remember.. so i get to sing them for him and let him follow me!!.. hehe(usually after we've both had too much to drink.... )

he was telling me this weekend he's finished his book... didn't say when or how it was going to be printed/published.. but will keep you informed as soon as i know....

sounds like a good yarn of tales about his life/career.....

I too like a great many of Staines' songs. I have many favorites among them. Right now I'm thinking of Sweet Wyoming Home- love the chorus especially.

When he was last in Juneau, I bought his then-new 'Alaska Suite', a tape of synthesizer tunes that he was very proud of. Very different from his other tapes and CDs but I enjoy it a lot.
