Subject: RE: Bob Copper's birthday party tonight From: Nemesis Date: 02 Jan 03 - 08:20 PM Actually, when I got there it was house-full - even Bob was sitting in the bar downstairs .. I think they let him in eventually .. but I had to go and find another session :) Darn! Though, with all our musical heroes pegging off I thought I should make the effort .. perhaps it's sticking to Harvey's of Lewes beer what does it |
Subject: RE: Bob Copper's birthday party tonight From: GUEST,Jon Dudley Date: 03 Jan 03 - 02:18 PM Sorry you couldn't get in. It really was packed and yet another great evening courtesy of Vic and Tina Smith. Bob had a great time and was so pleased that his grandchildren were there (so were we, by the way). We're already making plans for January next year! |

Subject: RE: Bob Copper's birthday party tonight From: GUEST,Molly Mockford Date: 06 Jan 05 - 12:43 PM Today, on what would have been Bob Copper's 90th birthday, the Copper Family web site at http://www.thecopperfamily.com has been completely revised and updated. All the original content as assembled by Garry Gillard is still there, but with a new design and navigation system, and there is some new content as well (for example, John Copper has written biographies of his grandfather Jim and great-grandfather Brasser). The song index pages (one for the Coppers' own traditional songs and another for songs collected by Bob Copper) have a search facility by which you can track down a song from a half-remembered scrap of lyrics. There is also the facility to buy on-line the Coppersongs 2 and 3 CDs and both the Copper Family Songbook and A Song for Every Season by Bob Copper. The re-launch of the site is synchronised with tonight's event at the Royal Oak Folk Club, Lewes, where Bob's family and friends will be celebrating his birthday in a style of which he would have approved - song and beer. |
Subject: RE: Bob Copper's birthday party tonight From: Dave Swan Date: 06 Jan 05 - 03:10 PM What a fine looking revision of the website that is. Thanks for the notification. My father would have been 86 today. He died within days of Bob. I hope they're having a pint and a laugh together somewhere. D |
Subject: RE: Bob Copper's birthday party tonight From: Linda Mattson Date: 06 Jan 05 - 04:27 PM Jon Dudley, nice to see you online! Best wishes and much gratitude to you and Jill and John and all the grandkids and great-grandkids for continuing the Copper family music. What a grand send off you gave Bob. I'm sure you had a wonderful 90th birthday celebration for (with) him. Really nice new website too, and very touching poem of Bob's online. Hope you can make a tour (all of you) to California sometime. Love and hugs, Linda Mattson |
