Yes, why keep the ancient Celtic place name when we could rename it after an Aboriginal goddess?

Is Martin Carthy still patron BTW?

I like Uluru. We should call Salcombe Hill......Uluru Mountain.

Much more in keeping with magical things like the Folk Festival.

There you go Dave....back on topic! ;0) (just no-one mention Ri.....!)

No longer Ayers Rock Lizzie, but Uluru [oolooroo] the proper Aborigine name. As for Kangaroos they taste very nice indeed, lean meat with not much fat, lovely cooked on the barbie.
Giok

Look 'ere lads and lasses.

I made what I intended to be a passing joke to someone who I regard as a friend about something he and I (and his wife) know about. I didn't mean to start a whole sub-thread although perhaps a little clarification was needed as to the subject matter for those not in the know.

So can we agree that the joke has been made (or failed) and get back to the "Let's all have wonderfull Sidmouth" idea.

Dave Earl

Oh dear!   Who'd be a kangaroo! Do you think they stand around in the bush saying:

"Loads o' Worries Roo!"

Sorry...couldn't resist that. Too much excitement! ;0)

I blame Richard Chamberlain myself!

Jackaroos and cockies wear them...in fact anyone who works outdoors in Australia. I have one too, which I haven't worn for a long time, but perhaps I should!

Drovers Lizzie not cowboys, it's an Australian hat and they don't have cowboys there in the occupational sense of the word. The proper thing to wear with an Akubra is elastic sided boots.
Giok.

Hope so Lynne. I don't have an anorak! I DO have a crushed velvet, deep crimson poncho with loads of sparkly bits and long fringing though! ;0)

Hmmm...Akubura Hats.....never seen one of those Dave...Oooh! Yes I have...just 'googled' them...they're Cowboy Hats!

Wow! I thought I was excited at the start of this thread...but if you're all going to turn up wearing Cowboy Hats, I may not even be able to last the 114 days left until Folk Week! I think Cowboy Hats should be compulsory! Not really into that 'compulsory' word at ALL, but if we're talking Cowboys...well!!!! ;0)

Where's Tony Blair? Is it on his Election Manifesto? Shame there isn't a Cowboy Party to vote for! ;0)

I LOVE Cowboys! Pete Duel...Alias Smith and Jones..he was my favourite....and The High Chaparral...MANOLITO...Sigh! ;0)

Lizzie :0)

PS..Are you all coming in Cowboy Boots as well?.....Sigh! ;0)

Anonymous GUEST with a different nom de plume each post said:

"I post anonymously now because I got fed-up receiving e-mails from Lizzie.

On the contrary, Lizzie is turning me on - to Sidmouth, that is.

I sincerely hope the place isn't going to be clogged up with anoracks with no sense of humour!

Lizzie you are so predictable and so very very boring.

You do Sidmouth Folk week a disservice by rabbiting on under your own name and all your thinly-disguised 'nom-de-plumes'

Put a sock in it gal.

ONLY 116 days to go to July 29th. :0)

AND....the excitment is starting to build! Down on the 'Sidmouth Silence' thread, people are starting to get anxious about tickets ALREADY! Always an excellent sign!

Personally...I'm excited, yet laid back...I never got my tickets from Steve Heap's Sidmouth until about June if I remember correctly and indeed a lot of tickets we bought on the day....as this depended so much on the weather. Not this year though, this year....all the concerts we're going to see will be in the dry!

Still.....good to see so many new threads starting about Sidmouth again!

Just think...soon Stevie Scarlett will be able to start ANOTHER thread up all about Sidmouth 2006!

Sidmouth could just end up in 'The Guiness Book of Records' as the Festival with the most threads, anywhere in the world!!!

Lizzie :0)
