Forging posts from me, eh? Your righteousness has really slipped now.

Are you still scratching around to try a find the 'crime' to match what I have already been publicly hounded, judged, convicted and sentenced for?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it really too much to expect those who 'moderate' our forum and those few who noisily post to support them - to accept the reality?

Whether you accept or not, the current Chief of the Editing Team's assessment or the suggested cure for what he finds wanting - expressed in the following - there is little point in pretending that our forum is anything other than it really is.

And despite our best efforts, Mudcat is no longer a pleasant place to hang out and goof off or have a good discussion. So, I think something has to be done. Ebbie's suggestion about putting Secret Santa in the music section is a very simple answer to one major objection I had to members-only BS posting - duh, why didn't I think of that?

But the pretence continues.

Some poster's loyaly support the best efforts of our 'moderators' - when they have no way of knowing what the true nature and current level of imposed censorship and 'silent deletion' really is. And despite the fact that the Chief proponent of these 'best efforts' no longer sees them as effective without further restrictions being imposed and a radical change made to the open posting policy that has always been the case on our forum.

The so-called criteria for this censorship is seen to be ignored at the same time that worthless assurances like the following are given.

No, nothing you've posted has been deleted. It takes quite a bit to warrant deletion - direct attacks on people, racism, stalking, or frequent multiple posts of the same messages.
-Joe Offer-

For it is clear from the evidence in this thread - that the current Chief of the Mudcat Editing Team would have no idea if this poster's contribution had been 'silently deleted' along with all the other posts, when an entire thread is wrongly deleted by some anonymous 'moderator' using criteria of their own.

Such assurances are well-intended but simply repeating such assurances when time after time the evidence shows them to be worthless, is as damaging to our forum as being seen to impose special posting restrictions on individuals who post simply to try to point this out, And who continue to do this in the hope that it will finally be addressed.

If our 'moderators' do not wish me to keep posting to point out where entire threads and all their posts have been wrongly 'siletly deleted' - then please address how prevent it from happening..................

Rather than being seen to using their 'best efforts' only to try and prevent me from pointing it out and trying to get our forum to openly discuss it.

I agree that if one uses personal attacks on Shambles, they will be eliminated. If they are responding to him, silly though I believe that to be, that will be allowed.

What ever this criteria is supposed to be - it does not appear (from the previous post) to be these posts (or their posters) that are eliminated as our forum is assured - as long as such posts are from certain favoured posters and are seen to be attacking certain easy targets. Or even from the 'moderator' himself - who is explaining this criteria to our forum.

But entire threads with all of their posts are eliminated.

Do you remember also posting to this recent one Wolfgang - or did I dream it?

Then send Max a PM Dumbass. Scared? Sure you are Shamby. Max might even respond and tell you to go fuck yourself! You're really diving deep into the crazy hole anymore. Is this just for our benefit or are you doing this shit with friends around town and acting this wacky in your own home? There were many more creatures on the farm now, though the increase was not so great as had been expected in earlier years. Many animals had been born to whom the Rebellion was only a dim tradition, passed on by word of mouth, and others had been bought who had never heard mention of such a thing before their arrival.

The farm possessed three horses now besides Clover. They were fine upstanding beasts, willing workers and good comrades, but very stupid. None of them proved able to learn the alphabet beyond the letter B. They accepted everything that they were told about the Rebellion and the principles of Animalism, especially from Clover, for whom they had an almost filial respect; but it was doubtful whether they understood very much of it.

From Animal Farm by George Orwell.

It is perhaps our call to bring attention to when such instances of abuse occur - without being subject to special posting restrictions for trying to make these attempts?

Without any changes announced to address a constantly repeated problem of controlling the actions of some of our anonymous 'moderators' - perhaps our forum should not be given empty assurances like these?

No, nothing you've posted has been deleted. It takes quite a bit to warrant deletion - direct attacks on people, racism, stalking, or frequent multiple posts of the same messages.

You're not honest with yourself and with us, Shambles. Your tiredness coincided exactly with your use of the term "snitcher's corner" for the help forum.

This thread will show that this acusation is not correct and that this 'tiredness' goes way back.

Guest Postings

Sadly that thread also shows that anonymous people wrongly imposing editing action for which the current Chief of the Mudcat Editing Team needs to reverse - also goes way back.

And still no measures are announced to prevent it happening again.

Any suggestions?

Shambles - there is no "wrongly deleted".

MMario - Perhaps you would accept that doing anything that does not meet the criteria required - is wrong?

And that preventing this abuse - is the point of having criteria.

I suggest you take this one up with whoever it was that informed our forum that the closure (of both threads) did not meet the required criteria for 'silent deletion' and who overuled this decision (as wrong) and who later restored/combined them?

And who expected to be shown gratitude for putting right these instances of two entire threads being wrongly silently deleted by persons unknown. But who has yet to comment on the latest vanishing thread. Perhaps the current Chief of the Mudcat Editing Team is trying to establish who was responsible for this latest one?

Shambles - there is no "wrongly deleted". The owner of the site reserves the right to delete, edit, change, move, etc any posting. His appointed proxies may do the same. That's fact.

Max has said he will not discuss such issues except in private communication - ie: off the forum. so if there is something done that you don't like - you have to take it up with him. So far, it appears you refuse to do so.

If I did - I dreamed that Wolfgang posted to it also.

For this entire thread and all of its posts now seem to have vanished without trace..............

Is this yet another case of 'silent deletion' by persons unknown and for reasons unknown?

Or is it a software glitch or is this also due to the upgrade?

But suddenly the dogs sitting round Napoleon let out deep, menacing growls, and the pigs fell silent and sat down again. Then the sheep broke out into a tremendous bleating of "Four legs good, two legs bad!" which went on for nearly a quarter of an hour and put an end to any chance of discussion.

Afterwards Squealer was sent round the farm to explain the new arrangement to the others.

"Comrades," he said, "I trust that every animal here appreciates the sacrifice that Comrade Napoleon has made in taking this extra labour upon himself. Do not imagine, comrades, that leadership is a pleasure! On the contrary, it is a deep and heavy responsibility.

No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be? Suppose you had decided to follow Snowball, with his moonshine of windmills-Snowball, who, as we now know, was no better than a criminal?"

From Animal Farm by George Orwell.

From: The Shambles

Perhaps the logic of relegating a music thread to the BS because the current Chief of the Mudcat Editing Team judges its contents to be 'trash' - can be explained?

Its contents may well judged to be 'trash' - but it remains a music thread - even if it is a music thread containing 'trash'. If that is what posters on the music section have posted to it - that IS what they have chosen to post to it and this should be accepted - rather than value judged by our 'moderators'.

Its relgation to the BS will not make the existing 'trash' go away - only ensure that anyone 'googling' on either Kate Rusby's or John McCusker's names will now be more likely to find even more non-music related comments in this thread.

Our forum does not have a music section and a 'trash' section. But the relegation of threads that the current Chief of the Mudcat Editing Team judges to be 'trash' to the BS section - rather implies that he does judge the BS section to be 'trash'?

And being anonymous there or on our forum is not a problem - is it? It does appear to be in this post for the current Chief of the Mudcat Editing Team.

I am a member of our forum - when I post here - I do not have to keep on putting my name to my posts - this is done automatically. So why cannot this be the case on snitchers corner? After posting there for a while you just tire of putting your name in.

Keep posting them Shambles. They are fun. I always like to be reminded of anniversaries and birthdays. I have a "day in history" feature on my blogsite - www.ronolesko.blogspot.com , and I also have gathered birthday information from many of the artists whose music I play on the radio. I think a commemoration once a year is worth a mention and a rememberance.

I also feel the obit threads are important. As Lee Hays would say, I like to check them to make sure that I am not in them!

This thread should never have been started. In general, we do not allow threads that attack other Mudcatters. UIt might have been appropriate to question the proliferation of birthday threads in a birthday thread, but starting a new thread to directly challenge Shambles has the tone of a personal attack. As a rule, I close or delete all threads directed at our usual trolls. Therefore, I'm closing this one.

Animal Farm (1945) - satirical allegory of the Russian Revolution, particularly directed against Stalin's Russia.

Led by the pigs, the Animals on Mr Jones's farm revolt against their human masters. After their victory they decide to run the farm themselves on egalitarian principles. Inspired by the example of Boxer, the hard-working horse, the cooperation prosper. The pigs become corrupted by power and a new tyranny is established under Napoleon (Stalin). 'All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.'

Snowball (Trotsky), an idealist, is driven out.

If I were your mother, I would knock all of your heads together! You all need to take a long hard look at yourselves and imagine what this thread looks like to someone viewing the site for the first time. This is probably the one that attracts you to look at - Does it look as if this site is populated by intersting people who want to talk about music???

Possibly not - if they were viewing the non-music related section.

But our forum will look as it looks – why the idea that some sort of pretence should be made that is something other than what it plainly is?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The following from Animal Farm by George Orwell.
It was vitally necessary to conceal this fact from the outside world. Emboldened by the collapse of the windmill, the human beings were inventing fresh lies about Animal Farm. Once again it was being put about that all the animals were dying of famine and disease, and that they were continually fighting among themselves and had resorted to cannibalism and infanticide. Napoleon was well aware of the bad results that might follow if the real facts of the food situation were known, and he decided to make use of Mr. Whymper to spread a contrary impression.

Hitherto the animals had had little or no contact with Whymper on his weekly visits: now, however, a few selected animals, mostly sheep, were instructed to remark casually in his hearing that rations had been increased. In addition, Napoleon ordered the almost empty bins in the store-shed to be filled nearly to the brim with sand, which was then covered up with what remained of the grain and meal. On some suitable pretext Whymper was led through the store-shed and allowed to catch a glimpse of the bins. He was deceived, and continued to report to the outside world that there was no food shortage on Animal Farm.

Suddenly, early in the spring, an alarming thing was discovered. Snowball was secretly frequenting the farm by night! The animals were so disturbed that they could hardly sleep in their stalls. Every night, it was said, he came creeping in under cover of darkness and performed all kinds of mischief. He stole the corn, he upset the milk-pails, he broke the eggs, he trampled the seedbeds, he gnawed the bark off the fruit trees. Whenever anything went wrong it became usual to attribute it to Snowball. If a window was broken or a drain was blocked up, someone was certain to say that Snowball had come in the night and done it, and when the key of the store-shed was lost, the whole farm was convinced that Snowball had thrown it down the well. Curiously enough, they went on believing this even after the mislaid key was found under a sack of meal. The cows declared unanimously that Snowball crept into their stalls and milked them in their sleep. The rats, which had been troublesome that winter, were also said to be in league with Snowball.

Napoleon decreed that there should be a full investigation into Snowball's activities. With his dogs in attendance he set out and made a careful tour of inspection of the farm buildings, the other animals following at a respectful distance. At every few steps Napoleon stopped and snuffed the ground for traces of Snowball's footsteps, which, he said, he could detect by the smell. He snuffed in every corner, in the barn, in the cow-shed, in the henhouses, in the vegetable garden, and found traces of Snowball almost everywhere. He would put his snout to the ground, give several deep sniffs, ad exclaim in a terrible voice, "Snowball! He has been here! I can smell him distinctly!" and at the word "Snowball" all the dogs let out blood-curdling growls and showed their side teeth.

YES!

and would it really justify all the fuss encouraged to be made against and for posting restrictions to be imposed on one individual poster only for this so-called 'abuse?

YES!!

Do you also agree with the current Chief of the Mudcat Editing Team and judge that 'Mudcat is no longer a pleasant place to goof off' or have a discussion and do you also agree with the proposed solution?

The goal is elimination
Of all duplication
Can't you get this into your brain?
I'll make sure that you will
Finally swallow this pill
As I will say it again and again

No, nothing you've posted has been deleted. It takes quite a bit to warrant deletion - direct attacks on people, racism, stalking, or frequent multiple posts of the same messages.
-Joe Offer-

Perhaps the following posters can be given an apology - for their posts were seen to be wrongly 'silently deleted' before the above assurance was given to our forum?

John 'Giok' MacKenzie
The Villan

GUEST,Jon
skipy
Divis Sweeney

And to the following - for their posts were seen to be wrongly 'silently deleted' after the above assurance was given to our forum?

Georgiansilver
number 6
Little Hawk
John 'Giok' MacKenzie
bobad
jacqui.c
Ebbie
MMario
Liz the Squeak -

And me.

"Which would lead me to believe that it is what is who said and who may be (trying) saying that is now the real issue on our forum - rather than how many times it is said. "

Try it and see.

You can express your views on any thread you like Roger, just not the same view in every thread!

No - as this restriction does not apply to you and is only seen to apply to me - it is obvious that it is what is said and who may be (trying) saying that is now the real issue on our forum - rather than how many times it is said.

For you and certain other favoured posters are also free and encouraged to post only abusive personal jugements in any thread and to be seen to do this in an open attempt to try to prevent other posters from posting and drive them off of our forum. Like the following example demonstrtes:

I shall not sit around silent while some little obsessed wimp in Weymouth or thereabouts conducts a campaign of hatred against people who do a difficult job.
I am not one of your mealy mouthed, wishy washy, sit on the fence liberals, who goes out of their way to make excuses for axe murderers and the like. I call it like I see it, and I am as determined to stop Shambles as he is to stop Joe doing his job.
Yes I have a problem, I have a problem with people like Shambles being allowed to spoil this site for other people, for his being allowed to post his repetitive rubbish in thread after thread, in other words, I want him OUT.

There now, I bet that came as a total surprise to you guest!

Giok

And that despite (or because) of the following:

I agree that if one uses personal attacks on Shambles, they will be eliminated. If they are responding to him, silly though I believe that to be, that will be allowed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you also support anonymous 'moderators' being seen to repeatedly 'silently delete' entire threads and all their posts from our forum - when the (so -called) critera is seen not to be met?

If you did - I suspect that you would not only be free to post this view in every thread - you would be encouraged to do so. Do do you agree and support this?

Do you also agree with the current Chief of the Mudcat Editing Team and judge that 'Mudcat is no longer a pleasant place to goof off' or have a discussion and do you also agree with the proposed solution?

You're great at repeating yourself but not too good at answering questions, so again:

That statement by Max was made in the early days of Mudcat when it was much smaller like seven years ago!!! Here is a far more recent statement May 30, 2006) from the owner.

"Shambles: I just don't care anymore. You press your point, time after time, until you press too far and then complain about the check. You do this purposefully to prove a point, but in the end, you are a distraction from the real point of this site. You too, should bid farewell."

And then Shamby Pamby, only a few weeks ago Max was asked:"Please do something to control Shambles' constant babbling. It sure would be appreciated by a lot of people." His reply:

"Our priority number 2 is to beef up the back end security of the site so that we can confront such issues. I cannot currently effectively enforce a ban on the savy. It would be too easy for them to find a workaround and get back in, now angry. Trust me, this matter will be dealt with in time. Trust me, we working as hard as we can to make this happen as soon as we can."

You know all that Shambolina and still you persist. Do you ever write Max? Soon your ass will be gone if don't cease and desist slamming Max as you do. Stop now........Just a good piece of advice.
What about it Sham??????

Agreed, Roger, I would support your right to express your view on every subject on this forum - once.

Beyond that it is abuse of a right.

I think that you may have posted that before?

But unlike me, you are still welcome to express your view on our forum in any thread you wish, as many times as you wish and using as many different names as you wish.

You would also be welcome to post to the effect of what a wondeful job our 'moderators' are doing - in any thread you wish, as many times as you wish and using as many different names as you wish.

Which would lead me to believe that it is what is who said and who may be (trying) saying that is now the real issue on our forum - rather than how many times it is said.

And that this concern that is an entirly bogus one. For even if the charge of repetition was a valid one - is it really the worst thing on our forum and would it really justify all the fuss encouraged to be made against and for posting restrictions to be imposed on one individual poster only for this so-called 'abuse?

For no one is being forced to read or even open a thread - are they? And all posters can quite easily be encouraged to ignore anything that is not to their taste or which they may have read before.

Do you also consider it an abuse of a right for anonymous 'moderators' to be seen to repeatedly 'silently delete' entire threads and all their posts from our forum - when the (so -called) critera is seen not to be met?

Do you think that some steps should be seen to be taken to address this when it happens and in order to prevent this abuse from happening again?

Some posters judge everything they say to be imposrtant - they are usually the same ones who post here judge that that what others may wish to say is not important (or is obnoxious or incoherent etc) - and can safely be restricted or prevented.

Is having other views present on our forum - but a small price to be willingly paid for the right to have your views present?

The majority makes the rules. It's impossible to do what every single member asks for because they ask for different things. How can you satisfy those who want membership and those who oppose membership? You have to do what the majority asks for. You are the only one complaining about all of these things. Max is doing what makes the majority satisfied. The Mudcat doesn't exist just for Shambles.
