Born and spent childhood in San Angelo, TX.(swore I'd never again live anywhere where the temp. got above 70 F.)

High School and a couple years after in St. Paul, MN.(Culture shock!)

7 years in US Army, incl San Antonio, TX. (They heard about that 70 F business) Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Ft. Lewis WA, (Near Tacoma,) side trips to Ft. Campell KY and Ft. Bragg, NC, lovely vacation in S.E. Asia, Walter Reed Hospital in D.C. and out.

Northern Virginia (Fairfax), 20 yrs in Wyoming, now in Denver suburb.

Never quite sure how to answer "Where you from?"

Born in bred in Bucks, SE England. Which apparently has no decent music tradition to speak of. Luckily currently live in London. which has 6 million people and 2 good folk clubs. anyone else think that may be just a bit of a dodgy ratio?? and they aren't big folk clubs by any standards!

Born in Quincy, Illinois a very long time ago. Raised and graduated from college there. Went to war from there -- stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas; Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri; Ft. Carson, Colorado; Camp Casey, Korea. Went to Northern Illinois University in DeKalb for some graduate school, left and moved to NE Ohio, worked in Burton, Ohio and graduated from Case Western Reserve University (MS in Library Science). More grad school at the U. of Akron (English, writing focus, they dropped the program and I dropped out). 16 years living in South Bend, Indiana and working in Elkhart, Indiana. Three years living and working in Kentucky across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, Ohio. Now I'm in Pocatello, Idaho.

Visited: Ireland, Southern France, England, Scotland, Eastern and Western Canada, all of the US except for Hawaii, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Lairg, Sutherland, in the highlands of Scotland. Originally Glasgow born, but spent most of my life in West London & Surrey. Spent 15 years truck driving round Europe, mostly Italy and Greece, eventually got fed up living in a town where I couldn't even park outside my own front door, so came back to my roots. Decided to come up here rather than go back to Glasgow, 'cos I like trees, and I don't like football.

Since this thread is four years old I don't suppose the original posters are checking in, but for the record...

Dusterjim, are you really from Falls City, Oregon? I spent a couple of years there, 110 Main Street. (Falls City is a literal end-of-the-road town with about 350 people if you count the suburbs.) I rented a much too big house from a friend; wonderful place. I could fish the Little Luckiamute from the patio outside my bedroom.

Cap't Bob, my mother was born in Mio, back in 1904.

Margo, my brother's widow lives in Vancouver, in Orchards.

I'm from Oregon but I just celebrated my 15th anniversary of living in Juneau, Alaska.

Banjer, I suppose I am a Pollyanna-ish sort, playing the "Glad Game".

I would hardly write this, though it is as true as my halcyon described above

A city of kebab shops, McDonalds and a Planet Hollywood
Mean streets of shame and broken people
A cruel division between the haves and have-nots

*sigh*

Hey JR, I would have never guessed. I quit my day job (so that means I now work nights, makes it hard to go jamin), I was just thinking about you this last weekend when playin some tunes with others, told them that if they ever ran into you to have you play "Leavin' Carolina". Hey people, this is one of those songs that are really good, put together by one of those people you never hear of, that few people ever get to hear. Good song JR

Now I find out that Picker is from Stone Mt., Lloyd from Asheville, and Moonchild and Harpgirl are from N. Fla. I'm from Lexington, S.C. Watchasay let's organize a Southeastern U.S. Mudcatters folk stomp-down.

I'll premise this by saying I'm still buzzing from downing (quite quickly) 2 delicious Rob Roys of a Friday evening, so be forewarned, I am a little off the wall and not myself...

I am from planet earth...but have been seen in Central New York--primarily the "Salt City"...have also ventured to southern points in the state as well...ie Binghamton (known to some as 5th-Hampton)...and Westchester County...most recently I've been experiencing The Bay area of California and now The San Fernando Valley region...that is when I am not mentally drifting to other places in the world...such as the UK and Ireland.

And I think you all can tell neither my day nor evening job is comedienne.
