Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Stilly River Sage Date: 31 Jan 22 - 04:58 PM Don't mind my muttering here in the office, I'm just putting everything back into the computer that wiped it all out with the repair . . . this was Windows' sledge hammer to repair a hangnail approach. I get to revisit all of these pretty disks and a lot of websites. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 01 Feb 22 - 06:45 PM Weinerschnitzel is made with breaded veal. I'm not fanatically against veal, but it's a pain to make well. Sauerkraut -- well, I haven't eaten a good one since my grandmother (who made her own) died in June, 1957. Good rotenkraut is nice, though. Pat made some Super SOS a couple of weeks ago and we scarfed it down (on Thomas English Muffins, of course). I had a pre-surgery experience today, so now I'm all set for Valentine's Day. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 02 Feb 22 - 12:27 AM Mom! Mom! My new phone's in SLC and should be here TOMORROW! How much longer for the freezer do you think? Odd, when you think about it. The phone has more computing power that our first desktop. Yes, it's an Apple iPhone, a SE 2020. And it costs helluva lot less that the top of the line models like the iPhone 13 (we don't get our phones and pay piecemeal). |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 02 Feb 22 - 09:01 PM Mom, I just got an estimate from the hospital about the cost of my shoulder repair. It is $52,373. I'm glad I have good insurance because that would take all my pocket money for WEEK! |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 03 Feb 22 - 05:45 AM Its going to reach 58 F overnight tonight. Leaving the windows open is nice for a change. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 03 Feb 22 - 08:10 PM The estimate I posted earlier was $200 low, and it's just the hospital's fees. Mom, I picked up my new phone today! It's RED! |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 04 Feb 22 - 06:24 AM Its still warm out this morning without a coat. We are promised whiplash weather with lows in the 20's tonight. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 04 Feb 22 - 07:17 AM 1,000,000 Americans fall on the ice each year and 17,000 die from their injuries. I slipped once and ended up waist deep in the Niagara river yards from the edge of the American falls. I litterally held on by my fingernails. The moral of this story is...Wearing gloves would have been fatal?! |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 05 Feb 22 - 09:44 AM I undertook the legal process whereby a non-owner occupant of a numbered post gains title and ownership of that post after a certain period of time. I as the disseissor, demonstrated several criteria that have been met for the PA. court to allow my claim. If you wanted to claim the number you should have made a post claim as a written request made by yourself, or a community for the rights of post ownership. Rights to posts or other equitable redress that has been lodged with the Commission of Restitution of Posting Rights in the prescribed manner is the only legal and accepted title of ownership. DIBS IS NOT A LEGAL PROCESS! I was granted post 2772 on 2/22/22. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: keberoxu Date: 06 Feb 22 - 09:39 PM Rapparee, how goes it with the Idaho resettlement of Afghans? Maus got attention years ago, not for nudity (hey! it's a cartoon!), but for the author's insistence that it was nonfiction of a sort. Finally, after much debate, somebody said: "Let's go out to Spiegelman's house, and if a giant mouse answers the door, we'll move it to the non-fiction side of the list . . . " |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 07 Feb 22 - 09:51 PM The resettlement of the refugees is going well. They say, "Afghanistan was home, but Pocatello is my home now!" Problem is, the agency doing the resettlement has never done anything remotely like this before and, let us say, there have been some glitches. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 08 Feb 22 - 06:21 AM 844 refugees have come to Idaho. 10,000 have come to MD since 2010. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 08 Feb 22 - 02:28 PM So far in FY2022 451 refugees have been settled in Idaho, of which 346 were from Afghanistan. 329 were settled in Idaho in FY2021, most of whom were from Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Eritrea, and Uganda. That's 780 in about 16 months. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Stilly River Sage Date: 10 Feb 22 - 03:22 PM The ex-Royal family of Italy wants the family jewels back. They've been in a bank for over 70 years. This seems a topic ripe for BS mining. . . |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: keberoxu Date: 10 Feb 22 - 08:43 PM The Crown Jewels of Italy, eh? And the House of Savoy, the news article says. Isn't there a classic swing/jazz tune called Stompin' at the Savoy? |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 10 Feb 22 - 09:06 PM Yes, indeed there is. Back in high school we knew it as "Stomping ON Savoy" -- Mark Savoy, who was a very unpopular fink. Always sneaking around and then telling the school administration what he'd found out, and if he didn't find out anything he'd make something up about someone. Whether it was smoking on school grounds or sneaking off to have a hot dog in the tavern a block away, ol' Mark would report it. He could, of course, be bought off and he sometimes even kept his word. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 11 Feb 22 - 09:16 AM I'm on season 3 and have seen an amalgam of over 25 classic sci fi film plots and devices. The Traveler writer is the Milton Berle joke thief of the sci fi world. These kinds of series could be written by app. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 12 Feb 22 - 12:35 PM I would decline to let any app I wrote be used for such mundane tasks and theft and boring people. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 16 Feb 22 - 08:58 PM Hi mom I'm doing this by voice. Today I purchased Dragon NaturallySpeaking or Dragon Nuance home. This is because I really cannot use my right arm for typing right now. And since I have to create an announcement about Afghan refugees I thought this might be extraordinarily useful. I'll let you know more on how it goes later. In the meantime, mom, please do not drink while you lay in the gutter. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Feb 22 - 12:20 AM Shaw was in a snit about the most recent post from Don not being germane to the COVID thread - like everyone is always right on topic. So I was going to move it over here. But I changed my mind. BS can trickle out of here on occasion. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 17 Feb 22 - 06:36 AM I don't care what action is taken to keep our most valuable donor happy. Its all OK by me. I know what Steve's sensitivities are, so if whatever placates the situation like moving all my posts to MOAB is all well and good. The lad would enjoy a title most of all like Mudcat Emeritus. No need to feel squeamish about keeping the mob happy. 20 years ago the young man genius accross the street went to work on voice recognition and succeeded very quickly. The John's Hopkins genius did his BA and Nasters in less than 3 years. I bet Rap is using the fruits of his labor with Dragon. I recall the corporate investigators that investigated the young and interviewed me as part of their need for secrecy. I miss our conversations regarding entanglement. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 17 Feb 22 - 10:45 AM I saw a movie directed by John Ridley, 'Needle in a Timestack'. Its a Romance sci fi made for pennies. Its about choices and relationships that works for everyone. If it has a mantra, its love is a circle. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 17 Feb 22 - 08:05 PM Okay I'm going to try something. I would like to know if anyone knows a clever Clavier player that worked. I knew one but she is now selling seashells at the seashore. Yes I am just trying to see what this program will do. Sheena Twain and Travis Tritt are doing a concert in New Jersey in honor of the late Conway TWITTY. It will be called the Twain Tritt Trenton Twitty tribute tour. So this seems to be working okay and I hope that it works for when I needed to work. |

Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 20 Feb 22 - 08:25 PM Mom!! Get up out of the gutter right now! You know how litter stains your clothes and the odor will get you thrown out of every bar on skid row. Go change your clothes, go to the back porch, and have an iced tea. Your kids will be by shortly with teacakes and cucumber sandwiches. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: keberoxu Date: 21 Feb 22 - 09:02 PM Well, Rapparee, does that 17 February post prove that your Dragon does what you tell it to do? I rather think it does ... but you are the one to say. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: keberoxu Date: 21 Feb 22 - 09:04 PM And, Donuel, illegitimi non carborundum. Easier said than done, but still. Don't go away. Senoufou would be no end of upset if you did. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 22 Feb 22 - 09:50 PM Saw the medical types today for a week-later followup. They're not only happy with my progress, but they prescribed more hydrocodone pain pills and hired me out to a mining company. I'll be pushing loaded mine cars up the slope from the stope to the surface. This is apparently okay because I was told not to do any lifting. There were photos of the inside of my shoulder. Of course, because it was my shoulder they are all wonderful and should be very valuable someday. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Rapparee Date: 23 Feb 22 - 01:18 PM There is one photo of the top my humerus sitting in the labrum (socket cup). Normally this would be nice and pink with muscles and tendons; mine is shiny white with a very noticeable hole through which you can see the other side. The muscle had "retracted" and had to be pulled back into place and anchored down. Other stuff was also done and there was a lot of detritus to vacuum up. |
Subject: RE: MOAB - Mother of All BS [annex] From: Donuel Date: 24 Feb 22 - 11:37 PM Breaking news: Chernobyl power plant has been seized by Russain troops. I thought this would happen. It is a scary foundation for a sci fi series or a Tom Clancy action thriller. New life forms, enriched nuclear detritus and naked aggression make for more horror. |
