Have yourself a microscopic Christmas
Let your heart beat on
From now on our virus will go out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Respect blacks and gays
From now on Christmas is just a click away
Here we are as in olden days
Like pandemic golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Are all far from us, once more
Through the years we all will be together
If vac-cines allow
Hang the Donald Trump upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas
Have yourself a little tiny Christmas
So have yourself a merry little tiny itty bitty Christmas now

You can still read everything in the original MOAB - you just have to get there via a search and read it one post at a time. So do a search on Amos (and Amos as a guest, because we could post in there that way also until recently) and figure out which posts are poetry. It took a while to hide them (he told me which, so I should see if I still have that list).

It just gets weirder and weirder....

We have two tropical storms, both predicted to become hurricanes, in The Gulf of Mexico for the first time in history. If that's not enough, current forecasts have them both making landfall on the Louisiana coast in the same spot 24 hours apart.

In any other year, that asteroid that's headed for Earth the day before Election Day wouldn't concern me at all....

Two hurricanes possibly slamming into the Gulf Coast soon, but it won't deter the windbags on the east coast (the Hatch Act isn't sparing the federal White House staff from party politics this week). Knocking the GOP off of the front page would be nice, but they're like the worst grass burs, once they're stuck on clothing or skin nothing is very effective against them.

Mom!

The word "holdup" makes perfect sense when describing the robbery of a stagecoach. If a stagecoach is moving from one place to another, its progress needs to be held up for a robbery to occur.

But why are bank robberies also called "holdups"? Banks don't move. They aren't going anywhere.

Trump sauce is made with fictious ingredients and stolen money.
China Flu id rice is just cooked rice in a blender with soy.
The Pandemic version is made the same but you don't cook the chicken.

I tried bratwurst for the 1st time ever Sunday. I don't like it.
There is only a typical morning cough but there is distancing going on because my wife with no discussion went to support her recently widowed oldest sister in rural Oregon, which is in her character regarding family. My only good memory of the deceased was during a family photo when he laughed at my joke that 'extraneous DNA' always stand in the back row. After 20 years the joke still works.

Its a good place to go submarine spotting, highway race, raise chickens and probably smuggle. *The pandemic is the main thing, the fire is the second and coming in third is the hurricane. Fourth is the open season for police shooting black people. The long standing crisis is the coup against democracy.

*in order of lethality

deadly bratwurst is #1354 on the lethal list.

Funny you should mention submarines around Rhode Island,
because that reminds me of something else actually.
My brief acquaintance with Rhode Island,
especially the closer you get to the shore and the Long Island Sound,
is that there is more to it than
Newport and those impossible mansions rising seemingly out of the water's edge.

In places like Greater Providence, with its many suburbs,
or Pawtucket to the north and east,
there are whole enclaves of people who are
Italian-Americans by way of New York and New Jersey,
and submarines to them are sandwiches,
often very peppery spicy ones.
Don't even get them started on pizzas ...

I thought ChanteyLass lived in New Mexico. I'm probably thinking of someone else.

My niece married into a well-to-do Boston family (a house in Cambridge/Harvard Square, etc.) and they have a beach place in Rhode Island. I poked around on Google maps. It's in the realm of "just a house" a block or two from the beach, but I'm sure even those don't go for a song. Every one of them seems to be built large with plenty of bedrooms for family visiting in the summer.

Don mentioned a cough before, I was hoping it was a passing thing and there are no symptoms now? Anyway, you don't need to discuss it in the open thread, but stay well, my friend!

Thanks to California we've been coughing AND staying inside the shelter of the HVAC filters wherever we can. This is the first day in a week that the AQI is "healthy."

In the last week I've given away three human skulls, two matching mandibles, and two human femurs, and a boatload of trophies for head-bowling, bone-baseball, and the other sports the Legion has engaged in over the years.

I knew only the owner of one of the skulls in his pre-skull days, a noxious old f*rt named Samworthy. He's the one who started the rout at the Battle of Tinymatters, where General Sothoth burned all the crops so they wouldn't fall into the hands of the German Army. That was in Idaho in 1967.

I mentioned the pilot wave phenomenon regarding quantum strangenss that traces a future course and motion - the total opposite of the wake behind a boat.
pilot waves you can see pushing a particle.

Another view over time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmC0ygr08tE
If you will, we are a surfing in an ocean of time.

ABSTRACT

The investigation of dynamical systems has revealed a deep-rooted difference between waves and objects regarding temporal reversibility and particlelike objects. In nondissipative chaos, the dynamic of waves always remains time reversible, unlike that of particles. Here, we explore the dynamics of a wave-particle entity. It consists in a drop bouncing on a vibrated liquid bath, self-propelled and piloted by the surface waves it generates. This walker, in which there is an information exchange between the particle and the wave, can be analyzed in terms of a Turing machine with waves as the information repository. The experiments reveal that in this system, the drop can read information backwards while erasing it. The drop can thus backtrack on its previous trajectory. A transient temporal reversibility, restricted to the drop motion, is obtained in spite of the system being both dissipative and chaotic.

https://www.quantamagazine.org/fluid-experiments-support-deterministic-pilot-wave-quantum-theory-20140624/

With a little imagination you may see why I believe in a 3D model of time on a quantum scale.

Since I was 14 I always wanted know why the 2 slit experiment suggested a particle wave at 2 places at once. I'm glad to 'SEE' a clear cut answer. This news is 10 years old in the visual experiment and the de Broglio theory is 100 years old, so its not like gravity waves being discovered.

I have even done this in my kitchen. Just like this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIyTZDHuarQ

The smell of dead grasshoppers and crickets is distinctive. We had a couple of really bad years in Central Texas back in the early 1980s and the municipality would spray at night. You'd go to a store and walk past piles of dead bugs.

We almost had a dead squirrel yesterday. The girls are beginning to coordinate their routine and they were within a whisker of catching one reckless squirrel that didn't decide it would be smartest to stay up the tree. Dead squirrels stink also, though when I find those things I toss them into the creek for the turtles and fish or bury them in the compost pile.

If you allow the natural world in you begin to see how the natural world treats you differently as if latent ancient DNA expresses knowledge that allows an interplay within and outside you. You see differently as though even the organization of a grasshopper cycle is more than the sum of its parts. The parts consist of a squad and multiple squads form a brigade that transforms plant life into flying protein packaged in chitin that need not go to waste. You can almost see their ancient contribution to a biome which is now extinct but was very much in harmony in their day. They were the food to new giant avian species in variations beyond belief millions of years ago
"Now you know the rest of the story"

I think taking out a lot of box elder bugs is also a worthwhile enterprise. I set up a mosquito trap this afternoon; it's passive, a bucket of water with some floating vegetation (weeds pulled today) that will rot and make the stagnant water all the more inviting to mosquitoes. Whose eggs will not survive the Bacillus thuringiensis israelii (mosquito dunk) in the water.

The western and mid western right wing militias are now in competition with each other. Some ride in pick up truck beds shooting mace and paintball guns into demonstrators. Some show up with live ammo. They are defending themselves and Trump, their excuser and chief.
Escalation will culminate in intensifying a fear of going to the polls. Militas are correct in assuming they have most police on their side. The use of the term civil war is discouraged and it is said that we are a country at war with itself. More blood may be shed as the election draws closer and Trump throws more troops into Portland and Chicago. It maybe won't be as bad as I think but it could make Trump President for four more years as more nazi like folk heros are created and memorialized while ignoring the dead mad crazy democrats and blacks. At least strategists like Steve Miller, McConnel, Bannon and Trump probably hope so.

Yesterday I watched from my parked car as a policeman in a cruiser detained an apparant exhausted vagrant and homeless black man and called for back up of two more police vehicles. There was no search or abuse that I witnessed but I did not not approach or obstruct the police and left early. There was simply the appearance and fear by the police. Even a firetruck showed up but soon left the scene. I feel like things are on a hair trigger. Perhaps it was just a humanitarian call to help the black man? If you didn't know, the police can now call paramedics to administer 500 mg of Ketamine to suspects. It has been fatal to small people but only renders larger people unconscious.
Things are moving just slow enough that Americans are getting used to it. It remains that Trump is the only one calling balls and strikes be it about violence or the pandemic. I guess I don't trust Trump to be Umpire and Chief.
