BB - I don't know anything about sonnets but, from reading most of yours these lines don't seem to scan for some reason. Am I crazy?

Perhaps- it depends on the person scanning: there can be different accents depending on the person scanning... But I try to vary the structure to what I thing sounds right. I do not insist that all feet be iambic,

Speaking of hobbling - I am healing up. The hardest part I've noticed is to be short of breath when talking - Because it hurts to take anything more than shallow breaths, I've got to curtail my speaking.

I don't go to libraries much. I feel any book worth reading is worth owning... I have about 50K volumes...

There are several interesting CD collections of books that are out of copyright- "Library of the Future" is good. I think the Brittannica "Great Books" are available, as well. But I still like the real book sometimes.

how do you know a book is worth reading (for you) before you buy it? Are your shelves covered with dusty, one shot wonders or do you bring down favourites regularly?

re space- so would I! Most of my books are boxed up, waiting shelf space- a few thousand are out at any one time.

Some are reference, and not often looked at. A lot, ( maybe 30K ) are paperback sci-fi, that I cycle through over time, rereading favorite.

And I collect Encyclopaedea Brittannicas...

The other problem is that unless I go to a MAJOR library, they do not have what I am looking for. I have never found Farmer (on Miracles, or on Demonics) in one- but I have them at home. ( Major texts on witch trials and angels, mine are something like 43rd printings, 1823)

My 14th -18th century poetry shelf is far more than the local libraries- I am luckey if they even have complete works of the major poets.

ANd they get rid of encyclopaedeas when the are 10 years old or so- I find the 11th ed. Britt. (1910-11) to be much more useful than what they have on the shelf, for anything about the 19th cent or earlier.

BB, I'm in complete agreement with you about the state of most libraries. At the moment, I'm in a running battle with my local branch over their policy of ripping out any book that hasn't been loaned out within two years!!!!

Your collection sounds absolutely enviable, and if I'm ever in your neck of the woods, I wouldn't mind an invite to nose around.

On the north side of Baltimore, in a small shopping cemter off ofRt.140, there ia a small restaurant named "China Best". They have sushi buffet, with some cooked dishes as well. Lunch is just various rolls, probably about 30 types. Something like $7 US for all you can eat.
Dinner is a lot more $11 US I think. But they have the other type ( rice ball) then. Very good, and the turnover is about 10 minutes per tray.

Probably about an hour drive from the Getaway site.
