Anyone know the whereabouts of Iain Macdonald (formerly of Lewis but living in Aberdeenshire in the 80's). I used to know him and would like to track him down or at least find a copy of his song The Iolaire.

In August of 1990 I was booked to perform at the folk club in Kirkaldy, Scotland. When I got there I discovered that Ian MacDonald was on the bill that evening. It seems that the woman who booked me got pissed off and moved to Ireland, and forgot to tell her replacement that she had booked me for that evening.

The regulars were quite embarrassed so I was asked to do a short set at the break. By way of apology, they paid my fee in full and put me up for the night. It was a huge old stone house that belonged to another man named Iaian.
I love the Scots.

Iain retired in the early 90s, but the pull of music saw him do his his first concert in 2010 (it says here in the Birnam press release.)
Unfortunately, he suffered a double brain haemorrhage, and spent five months recovering. Very fortunately, Iain came through unscathed, and since then he has been writing and recording his new CD, Colour Of Dreams (Tin Tambourine Music TTM001). I reviewed the new album, and it's just lovely. He still lives in Aberdeenshire.

Iain was in Aberdeen playing some songs from the CD 3 weeks ago, and is in fine form. He's living nearer Inverness rather than Aberdeen, I believe.

Caladonia Bloodline which he is using to support the Yes Campaign in Scotland but he started writing when he returned to Stornoway after not being in his home Island for 11 years.
Iain has several gigs lined up soon Aberdeen and in July in the best place every for Iain in July .....Stornoway.
