Subject: RE: Anybody know what happened to Peter Bond From: GUEST,John Carberry Date: 02 Sep 16 - 05:57 PM Well this has been an uplifting g read. Good to knowPeteris still alive and well and playing music . As everyone else has said what a great writer , very fine singer/performer too and a really nice bloke. Always willing to chart about his songs, answer questions, clarify lyrics and when not on stage in the years I saw him a few times, around 80-83 from memory, he sat in the audience, sang along, joined in the choruses and encouraged the floor singers. I first saw him at Redcar festival 80ish and soon after bought it's all right for some. Great record and used to do Joe Peel and Letter from Sunderland myself.I also loved Lark across the vapour trail. I recently heard Act of God at an evening of songs related to mining. Great song and locally resonant for me living in South Yorkshire as a miner's son. I'd love tocatch him live again or get reissues of his records. |
Subject: RE: Anybody know what happened to Peter Bond From: GUEST,Nicki Frow Date: 30 Apr 17 - 01:55 PM I only saw Peter Bond once, in around 1977/8 when he performed at a folk night held by my school, Hummersknott Comprehensive in Darlington. Some of my teachers had formed a folk group called The Forum, so the pie and pea folk nights were very popular. He was amazing and that concert started off my life long love of folk music. A prize possession of mine is his LP - It's alright for some, which was he signed for me. Unfortunately, I do not have a deck any more so would dearly love to have it on CD. Lovely to hear that he still performs. It would be amazing to see him again. |

Subject: RE: Anybody know what happened to Peter Bond From: GUEST,Trevor Brigham Date: 05 Feb 19 - 09:12 AM Peter came to University College London Folk Club in 1977/8, the organiser was a fan from Peter's home area and had often sung his songs. I still have the signed LP and made a cassette of it (still playable after 40+ years!). Such brilliant lyrics, simply accompanied on a guitar, and a really nice guy. Would love to see him again... |
