I'm 21 and don't feel a day over 15. I think about other people who are my age who in the military, or married, or having children, or cleaning up on the stock market. And I say HOW? We're so young! I still feel like a kid, even though I'm supposed to be an adult. Those people are 21 years old, I'm 21 years young.

This is truly the happiest I've ever been in my life: The children have grown up nicely and are now independent, my career has fluorished from being able to focus on it, and I have three delightful grandsons.

M 76 and a bit taken aback to discover that I am the last living human being to know a song my daddy taught me on a fishing trip to Florida in about 1940.

I asked Mudcatters for help with a a couple of lines that are in doubt and no one had ever heard of the song.

But you people are fantastic ... that seems to be the ONLY song you can't manage to recapture.

But give us another chance at that song, Edmund - you might be luckier this time.

M54. I look in the mirror sometimes and see this grey bearded face staring back, and sometimes think that it couldn't be me - I am still young! Even my grandkids say so!

I suppose all the 50+ folkies are left over from the 60's folk boom. When the next folk boom happens we may not even recognise it, I suppose it will be very different.

PS. The reason I have a beard is because I don't like looking at my face in the mirror - particularly in the morning - yuck! - but most times. Not shaving saves a lot of soul searching.

55, M, born when FDR was still President. (In those days women were wold not to get up for 3 weeks after delivery. . . my mother, who had lived in Washington DC until moving to Philadelphia in 1941, was DETERMINED to get downstairs and vote for FDR. She did, carried by precinct workers in a stretcher.)

Turned 50 on Christmas Eve. I'm telling anyone (who wants to listen!) that I'm starting the second half of my life!! Too many things to do, places to see and songs to sing in only 50 years.

I'm with you Kat - my sentiments exactly.

Hey! How come CATSPAW49 is 50?? Shouldn't he now be CATSPAW50?? And as for the statisticions (sp?) Roger, PeteM and Susan of DT..... you really need to get out more :)

had to look at this--'cause i responded to it last year as i was staying at my dad's house for the night and he showed me mudcat...unfortunately i didn't have a computer between then and now and i thought it was crazy that now that i visit almost everyday, it came back again---good memories!!!

but here's a funny little birthday story --- when i turned 20,every member of my family sent me a card saying happy 21st (including my mother)....that night , i was playing out a bar that i play regularly and i had told my older brother that i was playing out at this bar, so he sent a letter to the bar telling them that it was my 21st and with $$ for a few drinks. so when the owners came out with a cake and asked me what i wanted my first legal drink to be... i could not tell a lie :) i had to tell everyone that it was really my 20th b-day...and everyone in the place passed around the cards that my whole familiy had sent me with the wrong age and we laughed.

(you'd think after 20 years they'd figure it out)
