I would like to meet the M60 that can keep up to 3 F20's!

My Ex (Joe, we're not all taken) asked me if I would trade him in on 2 18-year-olds when he had turned 36. Ummm, no. It was enough work training one M, wouldn't want to go back and train two more.

I know which one I'm chasing. At 48 tomorrow, I feel like I am finally mature enough for a spritely 33 year old. But if she is going to act her age, I will look elsewhere. LOL.

All the best,

Mick Lane

Great, my friend, and I will expect that we will find a place and get as many 'catters as we can together. That would be a great 50th present. A super session, maybe somewhere half way between Michigan and PA, eh? Would that we could.

Happy Birthday Mick, I'll be joinging you at 48 next month. I don't mind the aging so much but it's awfully embrassing when people think I'm young enough looking to be my youthful looking wife's (42) son, it's even worst to feel that young while pausing to catch a breath. Barry

On the what do the kids listen to topic ...

I have three

My 12 year-old listens to the Spice Girls and Jewel. She says thanks when I give her Nanci Griffith and Waterson and McGarrigal and Pogues disks and then never plays them (so I take them back and play them myself).

My 10 year-old ignores all music as far as I can tell.

My 8-old listens to Beethoven and Carmen.

Is there any truth to the rumor that someone is working on a chip to protect our kids (and grandkids) from stumbling upon the Mudcat threads, labeling them FOR MATURE AUDIENCES?

Just another foggy folk fogey.

Dunno about that Sandy, but if you set up the "Mother Knows Best" filters (aka "Content advisor" in IE) it wont let you access the forum - unsuitable language!! Mind you if the people who use these things knew about the ideas expressed here they would probably have kittens at the thought of little Jimmy reading them, they are far more dangerous than swearing and talk about whisper sex, he might grow up with an open and enquiring mind!

OK for those of you who prefer pictures, here is a stem plot of our age distribution in 5 year bands (does away with problems about "nearly" or "next birthday" and 33’s who are actually 34 etc)

  Age band M F

<20 |x
20-24 xxxx|
25-29 x|x
30-34 xxxx|xxxx
35-39 x|xxx
40-44 xxxxxxxxx|xxxxxxx
45-49 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx|xxxxxx
50-54 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx|xxxxxxxx
55-59 xxxxxxxxx|X
60-64 xxx|x

Clansfolk Ages

Pete - M 47

Simon - M 16

Eileen - F 47

Is it something to do with the 60s Folk Boom?

as there is a glut of 'young' 40-60 age group.

We have been trying to introduce more young people to the Traditional scene though folk clubs and Festivals. The Young Generation Contest at the Fyle Folk Festival has done well over the years several professional performers have come out of the Competition (eg. Kate Rusby).

Lets all stay young forever.

take care and sing well

I've always looked younger than my years (as did my parents.. youthful genes) so I have never thought of myself as 'old'. I was stunned (or stung) about 2 years ago when I was talking to a guy after the session was breaking up and he complemented me on my singing. He then went on to say, 'and it's nice that older people like you can pass on the songs to the young people...' ... and I had been thinking of him as a peer while I was talking to him... I could have popped him in the nose, as my daddy would say, but I'm a lady. I stood there speechless, instead, as my face blanched then blushed.
