I don't mind the aging so much but it's awfully embrassing when people think I'm young enough looking to be my youthful looking wife's (42) son, it's even worst to feel that young while pausing to catch a breath. Subject: RE: How Old is a Mudcatter? From: Sandy Paton Date: 10 Jan 99 - 04:13 PM Is there any truth to the rumor that someone is working on a chip to protect our kids (and grandkids) from stumbling upon the Mudcat threads, labeling them FOR MATURE AUDIENCES? Just another foggy folk fogey. |
Subject: RE: How Old is a Mudcatter? From: Pete M Date: 10 Jan 99 - 06:23 PM Dunno about that Sandy, but if you set up the "Mother Knows Best" filters (aka "Content advisor" in IE) it wont let you access the forum - unsuitable language!! Mind you if the people who use these things knew about the ideas expressed here they would probably have kittens at the thought of little Jimmy reading them, they are far more dangerous than swearing and talk about whisper sex, he might grow up with an open and enquiring mind! We have been trying to introduce more young people to the Traditional scene though folk clubs and Festivals. The Young Generation Contest at the Fyle Folk Festival has done well over the years several professional performers have come out of the Competition (eg. Kate Rusby). Lets all stay young forever. take care and sing well Pete and family (Clansfolk) |

Subject: RE: How Old is a Mudcatter? From: Alice Date: 17 Jan 99 - 12:43 PM I've always looked younger than my years (as did my parents.. youthful genes) so I have never thought of myself as 'old'. I was stunned (or stung) about 2 years ago when I was talking to a guy after the session was breaking up and he complemented me on my singing. He then went on to say, 'and it's nice that older people like you can pass on the songs to the young people...' ... and I had been thinking of him as a peer while I was talking to him... I could have popped him in the nose, as my daddy would say, but I'm a lady. I stood there speechless, instead, as my face blanched then blushed. alice in montana |
