I'm not that experienced in chatting up a pretty lady and would like some tips. I know I should get the lady to talk about herself, but work can be a minefield subject and most ladies don't want to get too personal early on in a conversation.

We had a bunch of threads on that very question a long time ago. They seem to have helped substantially in regards to making great chocolates.

Not necessarily. Some of them have a tendency to side with the underdog, and that is definitely a form of idealism. They obey their own best judgement rather than following orders like robots. They are mavericks and make up their own minds about which side to fight for. In many cases they will not fight for a given side, because they disapprove of its ethics or motives, even if it IS willing to pay them more money. In this respect they are very much like Indian warriors were, in that they are autonomous. Indians made excellent mercenaries, and sadly, helped the whites defeat other Indians time and time again...but that was because they lacked an overall sense of nationhood.

Then there are the ones who have no ethics at all, and fight just for the money. As regards those, s6k, you are quite correct in your estimation of their character.

Hey Blackcatter, I'm not avoiding the question, just giving it a good think. Maybe I'm not the best to answer this, no longer being in my prime...but if I think back far enough, I vaguely remember that what worked for me was humour, honesty, less small talk and more intelligence.

On the main page, "Click on the linked "Messages" numbers to view the thread split into pages (click "d" for chronologically descending)."

The first option breaks the thread up into 50 post pages, much more easy to handle.

What a clever way to be sure I continue this subtle litte dialogue we're having amidst talks of golf, feathers, quatrains and poetry... to mention only a pittence of the meaningful subjects brought to the fore on this unique thread. One would think we were only exchanging niceties rather than digging deeply into each other's subconscious.

Oh, and to the rest of you...back to Belgium and what it's given the world. How about more varieties of Beer than any other country? Small wonder then, that it was chosen as Headquarters for the EU.
