Subject: help with lyrics From: MRL Date: 08 Jul 99 - 06:42 PM I learned this beautiful song as a younster in girl scout camp, but can only remember the chorus/refrain: "May all of your dreams bloom like daisies in the sun. May you always have stars in your eyes. May you not stop running, not until your race is won. And may you always have blue skies." I also remember the last two lines of one of the verses: "A dream is something all your own that no one else can steal. A dream is something you can make come real." Can anyone help me fill in the rest of the song?? |

Subject: Lyr Add: DREAMS (girl scout song) From: Jim Dixon Date: 19 Apr 10 - 03:28 PM Like most "scout" songs, there are many copies on the Internet. Like most "scout" songs, the origin is a mystery. Copied from the link shown above. DREAMS CHORUS: May all your dreams bloom like daisies in the sun. May you always have stars in your eyes. May you not stop running on until your race is won. May you always have blue skies. 1. A dream is something all your own to keep within your heart, To build on when you're glad or when your world's been torn apart. A dream is something all your own that no one else can steal. A dream is something you can make come real. 2. Now you can share a laugh with any stranger on the street, And you can share your money with a beggar on the street, But you can only share your dream when love has set it free, So please, won't you share yours with me? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: May all your dreams bloom like daisies From: GUEST,Camp Hitaga Alumni Date: 02 May 10 - 02:09 AM Accdoring to our songbooks that were published in the early 70s, "May all of your Dreams" was written at Camp Hitaga (the Iowana Council of Camp Fire's camp - near Troy Mills, north of Cedar Rapids, IA) by Carolyn Moore in 1969. I found a downloadable MP3 from some Girl Scouts (who sing the tune somewhat differently than we do in many places) at http://www.fament.com/gsinfo/songs/daisiesinthesun.mp3 I'm working on illustrating a digital recording that some Hitaga Alumni just made last weekend. When I get it done, it will be posted at http://www.youtube.com/user/HitagaAlumni - feel free to subscribe! |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: May all your dreams bloom like daisies From: GUEST,Camp Hitaga Alumni Date: 29 Jul 10 - 01:30 AM Our "video" is now up... http://www.youtube.com/user/HitagaAlumni#p/c/4044D50A0AF85B71/1/W9Chu08Vjjk And thanks to the convenience and reach of Facebook, I have heard from the woman for whom it was first written as a birthday present at Camp Hitaga during the summer of '69, so that piece of our common understanding has been corroborated! :-) As Mary remembers it, Carolyn Moore was an exchange student from Brazil who attended college in Arizona and spent that summer at Camp Hitaga in Iowa before returning to Brazil - and she could really play the guitar! Mary and Carolyn were partner counselors in a tent in the Amikanna Unit (for girls going into 4th grade in the fall) the week of Mary's birthday, and Carolyn wrote this song for her out of the blue. It has been one of our favorites ever since - when I polled the Camp Hitaga Alumni Yahoo Group a couple months ago, May All of Your Dreams (Mary's Song) came in 2nd - but some of the folks voting had been at camp before this was written. Among those of us whose time at camp was since 1969, this song was the clear #1. We would love to hear more about how widely it has now spread! |
