Ah, but not all readers of this thread have had the advantage of a real education... Or so it seems, at times.

I once put a letter to the editor titled " A Modest Proposal" ( at college, about a mandatory Physics fee [ to go along with the existing athletic fee.]) I was severely criticised by a number of people, most of them English majors....
