What's the fuss? When is the Wedding Party? I didn't see it on the schedule. What is it, anyway? Who's planning all this? How about some clarification for us ignorant folks? I read that the Getaway is supposed to be *inclusive*.

Maybe we should have a Divorce Party so lots of us can be feted. There's plenty of good songs. I'd volunteer to lead one next year, but I know better.

Pauline

Pauline - wedding party is 1:30 to 3:00 on saturday - what could be more inclusive then a couple throwing their wedding reception/party open to FSGW getaway weekend? *grin*

Pauline, it's scheduled right after lunch on Saturday in the TV room and is definately open to everyone. Rita did her best to be sure the conflicts could work out for everyone. SINSULL and I are planning and with help will attempt to lead what could prove a large and perhaps unruly crowd ( the groom seems to have friends of a questionable nature) ...
As Kendall and Jacqui C are getting married the day before Getaway we thought it would be appropriate to acknowledge it in song and good humor. In all inclusivity, when we reallized there were multiple newly weds around we wanted to be sure we got a change to give a few kind words to the young'uns as well.... Hope to see you there.

Tinker and MMario,

I had heard that there would be a celebration for Kendall and Jacki, but adding the other newlyweds is a nice touch. Whose idea was it? That person should get some extra kudos.

Is anyone going to bring rice to throw, or is that not PC?

Well, gol danged if I ain't sniffin' a conspiracy here...

My three loves are: P-Vine, blues and gardenin' and looks like my blues workshop is going to be at the same exact time as the gardenin' workshop??? Before the "new & improved" schedule, I was gonna get 1/2 hour of gardenin'... But now? Zip....

Now that's the blues...

Well, Janie, Iz still gonna bring some plants for sharin' and maybe we can hook up at dinner wid some of the other green thumbers...

Pauline, you're right, it wasn't on the first list of workshops. Kendall had orignally asked me not to keep it a surprise. sorry! I forgot it had been omitted from that first list. Anyway, since he and Jacqui had announced that they were getting married we decided we could put it in the second round of info.

Bobert, my apologies, wish we could have gotten all this up sooner so's people would have a chance to clean up the problems we've caused :-)

Everyone, the what-to-bring web page is now up. I finished typing it, converted it to html, and said, "Whew. That's done." Forgot the small detail of uploading it to the web.

Is it gardening, or songs about plants and things?
Hmmm...I just thought of something that might work in the auction. Think anyone will want a little pot of creeping thyme grown from a bit plucked from the grave of F.J. Child? I'll pot some up tomorrow just in case.

Songs about plants, trees, gardens, gardening, singing about nature, natural singing -- this is the Getaway! Any Excuse for a Song! As Bill says, "We tend to interpret the topic loosely."

Bobert, you bring me all the live plant offerings you wanna, ya hear!
Iff'n they're a little puny or something we will just sing 'em right back to health!

All kidding aside, definitely bring plants to share if you would like. I am confident you and I are not the only two gardeners at the Getaway. 'sides--they ain't really no rules!

I was VERY disappointed to see with the schedule change that I couldn't catch part of yours or you part of mine. But just the way it goes sometimes. I want to hear that Steven Stills song you mentioned in the last gardening thread, but there is plenty of singing and sharing aside from the workshops. So many great offerings and opportunities are packed into this weekend that I always have to miss something important to me, or leave something in the middle to go catch the end of something else. Life should always be so full of these kind of choices, eh?

See you there!

Janie

I would have to leave Friday after school gets out & would need to come home Sunday afternoon--too short a weekend! I will certainly be there w/ you all in spirit; have a wonderful time!

Bobert, I'm sure Rita will tell you the same thing: live baby plants good!

There's one guy who comes who's a fungus expert. One year, I remember he had traipsed all over the woods and brought back al different types of fungus: edible, inedible, beautiful, ugly, toadstools, mushrooms and cloud's ears, and he'd tell people about them.

The scheduled workshops and mini-concerts are great, but so are all the un-planned things that happen.

Yeah, sigh, Bobert & Janie, that's a bummer. And, I forgot that we don't have a leader yet for campfire songs & stories. Eli Greer says he'll build a fire but doesn't want to be the leader. I sent an e-mail asking for volunteers. maybe I'll hold off a bit on printing the schedules until I hear.

Jeri, the fungus expert is Paul Goland, a long-time Getaway attendee, who usually comes along with his talented wife, Nan (She is leading Food Songs this year.)I'm sure he would be happy to talk mushrooms with anyone interested.

I for one would love a bit of Child thyme.

Heather Wood and Sue Mathieu have offered to lead (co-lead) the campfire sing. Thanks!

And, a bit of news, I hate to write it, but Sandy Paton has a bad chest cold/infection. He's been on antibiotics but it's still pretty fierce. It ain't at all adviseable for him to take such a long trip while he's this sick, not to mention sleeping in unheated quarters. So, the Patons won't be coming to the Getaway.

Well, I'm sure that while all of us will miss them a lot, we'd rather have Sandy take good care of his health than otherwise. He and Caroline send their love to all.

Have made a couple of appropriate minor adjustments to the program but all sessions but one are still in the same place. Will re-post the schedules sometime tonight or early tomorrow.

Rita

Thanks, Carly. I know someone told me his name previously, but I'm horrible with names. I'll dig some up thyme. I was buzzing around today and didn't find the thyme. I have something a bit bigger for you, but I don't know if it will fit in the car. If I can squish it in there, it's yours.
