Subject: Tacoma guitar same as Olympia? From: wilco Date: 02 Jan 03 - 05:46 PM I've located an Olympia OB3CE acoustic bass with Fishamn electronics. The inside label says that its made by Tacome. It looks identical to the Tacoma CB series Thunderchief bass. The Olympia is $295.00 new, with no case. It sounds as loud as any acoustic base I've tried. Are they the same insturments? |
Subject: RE: Tacoma guitar same as Olympia? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 02 Jan 03 - 06:14 PM Wilco, According to Tacoma's website (Click Here) Olympia guitars are made in Asia to Tacoma's specs. Similar to Martin and Sigma. In other words, it's a Samick that looks like a Tacoma. Bruce |
Subject: RE: Tacoma guitar same as Olympia? From: nickp Date: 03 Jan 03 - 04:39 AM And a great many of the budget range guitars come out of the same factory (not necessarily this one of course) but with different brand names. Confusing! |
Subject: RE: Tacoma guitar same as Olympia? From: GUEST Date: 01 Jul 10 - 12:13 AM Olympia is a label by Tacoma...its possible they are the same guitar with a few differences |
Subject: RE: Tacoma guitar same as Olympia? From: mousethief Date: 01 Jul 10 - 03:59 PM Is Tacoma still independent? I thought they were snatched up by some big conglomerate. I love my Tacoma Chief. |
Subject: RE: Tacoma guitar same as Olympia? From: oggie Date: 01 Jul 10 - 06:04 PM I own a Thunderchief and have played one of these. They are different but it depends on the sound you want and the depth of your pocket. Mine has a LR Baggs pickup rather than the Fishman and I admit I prefer that sound WHEN I plug it in (very rarely) Steve |
Subject: RE: Tacoma guitar same as Olympia? From: 60sgeezer Date: 04 Nov 10 - 01:58 AM I got a tacoma jm-9 I love it! the depth and volume is phenomenal. It has a BIG...BIG sound, and is airy and mellow. It is great for fingerpicking-esp in drop d. I paid 900 dollars for it, and it sounds better than guitars retailing for twice that amount. imho. (I also have a taylor 855 twelve string which i turned into a six string It sounds NO better"than my Tacoma jm9 (-cant say much for the tacoma dreadnaught however) I hear tacoma went out of business. They were bought by fender, 'who discontinued the tacoma guitars. :(( |
Subject: RE: Tacoma guitar same as Olympia? From: GUEST Date: 16 Nov 13 - 01:01 PM Dang! This is the most uninformative forum/blog I've ever seen! An OD 18 s in good condition should easily be worth 800-1200 an OD 10 or an even rarer OD 5 can be worth even more if your lucky enough to have one of these keep it and take good care of it! |
