Info on Dell Arte's Leadbelly 12 string

I have read about the 12 String made by Dell'Arte that is modelled after Lead Belly's Stella. I've never seen nor played one? Anybody out there who has? What was your experience?

I have never played one, but there's a mention of it in the current (May 2005) Acoustic Guitar magazine article on 12-strings.

I'm not sure, but Elderly Instrument's web site may have a photo and description of one. You'll have to surf around their site a bit.

i played one a few months ago that belonged to a friend. i thought it sounded good, kind of jangly. it was the lightest 12-string i've ever picked up so i think it's braced much more lightly than a martin or guild.

Andy Cohen tells me that it doesn't compare to the old Stella's, and he should know.

I bought a Stella 12-string in a Skibereen junk shop a couple of years back. Thought you'ld like to know. Forty quid.

I'll give you Fifty quid for it, sight unseen! Seriously, what sort of nick is it in?

I have a Martin DM12, which is the best 12 I've ever owned (and I've had a few - Framus, Washburn, Ovation, Yamaha, Takamine, Gibson B45-12 and Guild to name but some), but it is a bit too tuneful and civilised for Leadbelly songs, really.

I'd like to try an old Stella, just for interest sake.
