I've looked through this thread from end to end, and looked at the Getaway site, but find no (even approximate) figure for cost. I realize that it may be that final fees can't be set until they are closer to the actual event, but can someone give me at least approximate costs from previous years?

I would probably be attending with my Beautiful Wife. I am not an FSGW member.

(very) roughly $175 per person. I could be off $25 either way I'm sure - that's figuring the whole shebang Fri-sat-sun nights and meals saturday, sunday plus monday breakfast (friday night is a pot luck) - if my memory is correct.

To Uncle DaveO ( and any others) When the price is determined consider joining FSGW- you will get a reduction in the getaway cost (perhaps enough to cover membership), as well as the newsletter mailed to you. If you can get to the DC area, you might also enjoy the 10 concerts that are free to members.

Is there room for a fat bloke and his diminutive better one-third? Vanessa and I are planning to come. We will have to travel on the 15th, as I have a gig on the 14th (likely to be the 5th album launch, as it is scheduled to be released in October).

How do we get there? Which airport do we fly to? Baltimore? and is there public transport from there to the camp?

Yes, Baltimore is the airport to fly into; it's definitely the closest. There is no public transportation to the camp from there, but as we get closer to the time, post your arrival time and indicate that you need a ride from BWI to the camp. Somebody will be able to pick you up.

OK, it's final - I am coming (minus Vanessa though, logistics at home don't permit it).

I arrive at BWI on Friday 15 Oct at 16:15, so by the time I clear customs etc I should be out of the terminal around 17:30 or so, I guess. Beardedbruce, will there be any transport organised to the camp, or should I grab a cab (estimated cost?)?

One more thing: Do I need to apply formally to someone/somewhere? Or is this declaration of my intention sufficient? And how/to whom do I pay my dues for the weekend and how much is it?

Applications? Not sure- I get mine in the FSGW newsletter. Check with Rita, she might know the proper way for those overseas to register.

Perhaps I need to start a list- Can people coming in to BWI let me know when, how many people, and about how much "stuff", so I can try to match up with rides, or try to arrange a bus? Not sure who should take care of this, so... I guess I volunteer.

The precise costs are still being decided. (There are probably adjustments for people who come only part of the time and daytrippers, reflecting the cost of the camp rental more accurately.) But the costs for full-timers will be similar to previous years (ranging from $130-$170 U.S. dollars, depending on whether or not you're a member of FSGW and whether or not you stay over for Monday breakfast, with price-breaks for youngsters and full-time students).

As soon as that's all decided, the registration form (what El Greko calls the application form above) will be created. It'll be printed in the FSGW newsletter, but a copy will be downloadable from the web in .pdf format, and everyone at Mudcat will know about it. (There will be an announcement either in this thread of some successor thread).

Last year, an FSGW member with a British chequeing account made it possible for some people to pay in British pounds sterling. We'll see what we can do this year, if enough people need foreign money exchange.

Hot Damn! There are now cheap flights from Burlington VT to Dullas. Is this also a reasonable possibility, or should I still get my sorry butt to Manchester NH and fly into BWI with all of the rest?   It adds about $50 to the cost to bus down there, but if that's the better locale, I'll do it. Just sent in my registration for Old Songs and am planning a music weekend as well. This is too much happieness.

well, Dulles is over an hour further away than BWI, and on a Friday afternoon that could stretch to 2 hrs...distances are deceiving when moving in Washington beltway and I-95 traffic. I live only 1½ hrs or so from the camp, and **I** leave early to miss Friday traffic. I could probably pick up someone at BWI if they arrive there by 3PM or so....but don't even ask me to backtrack to Dulles...*grin*

(I bring a lot of 'stuff', including crafts, so I need extra time to unload and get set up, and Rita is program chair....so we tend to be among the first arrivals)

Curiously enough, the Philadelphia airport (PHL) is probably closer to Camp Ramblewood than Dulles (IAD). (Not that getting a ride from PHL to Darlington is going to be easy.) But it IS another airport to look at, in case you get bargain flights there.

Charlie's right about PHL: it's a zippy on and off of 95 for those coming from the North.

Great news Kendall. It will be great to hear you sing again. Tawmmie has agreed to let me go even though she won't be able to attend herself. And George, I can't wait to meet you too and swap some original songs with you. My plans are not yet finalized, but here is a rough estimate.

I'm going to be flying into Newark airport on 10/13. Then spending the 14th with my daughter who has recently accepted a directing internship with the McCarter Theater in Princeton. I will be driving the rental car from Princeton to Darlington on the morning of the 15th and should have room for a fellow traveler or 2.

I plan to leave The Getaway late Monday morning 10/18 and drive back to Princeton for another day with my daughter before heading back to Newark and boarding a return flight to Anchorage on the 20th. I am really looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. If I can assist anyone to get there or back home please let me know. I can always use a harmony singer while driving.

Ok, time passes and plans change. My son and his family recently moved to Traverse City, Michigan and my daughter is moving to Princeton, New Jersey in August. I would like to visit them both while I am back east.

I am planning to fly into Newark on 10/13, but since I will not be returning the rental car to the same airport, renting a car is too expensive. I plan to take the train to Princeton, and spend the 14th with my daughter.

I will require transportation assistance. First, I need a ride from Princeton to Darlington on or about the morning of the 15th of October. Then after the Getaway, I need to beg a ride either to Michigan, or to a bus station that will get me to Michigan.

Traveling from Alaska always develops into a major adventure. Those of you who can help me with transportation can be assured of being mentioned in any road songs that are written as a result. I might even bring down some more Alaskan Smoked Salmon for car munchies.

Thanks in advance, let me know by PM if you can help me out. I just can't wait to go to another Getaway.
