Subject: RE: BS: Will this thread reach 85 billion posts? From: IWTATBM Date: 13 Sep 07 - 04:33 PM Monastery Life A young monk arrives at the monastery. He is assigned to helping the other monks in copying the old canons and laws of the church by hand. He notices, however, that all of the monks are copying from copies, not from the original manuscript. So, the new monk goes to the head abbot to question this, pointing out that if someone made even a small error in the first copy, it would never be picked up! In fact, that error would be continued in all of the subsequent copies. The head monk, says, "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my son." He goes down into the dark caves underneath the monastery where the original manuscripts are held as archives in a locked vault that hasn't been opened for hundreds of years. Hours go by and nobody sees the old abbot. So, the young monk gets worried and goes down to look for him. He sees him banging his head against the wall and wailing, "W e missed the R! We missed the R! We missed the R!" His forehead is all bloody and bruised and he is crying uncontrollably. The young monk asks the old abbot, "What's wrong, father?" With A choking voice, the old abbot replies, "The word was........ CELEBRATE!!!" |

Subject: RE: BS: Will this thread reach 85 billion posts? From: KB in Iowa Date: 11 Sep 07 - 03:24 PM I guess that was a little too obscure. You see, Rapaire wrote backwards and supposedly when you played one of the Beatles songs (don't remember right off which one) backwards they said "Paul is dead." Well, inside the cover (opened like a book) of the LP "Magical Mystery Tour" were some pages with photos. One of the photos is of a military man and on his desk is a sign that says "I WAS YOU." This has been trotted out as further evidence that Paul had died. |

Subject: RE: BS: Will this thread reach 85 billion posts? From: IWTATBM Date: 10 Sep 07 - 02:40 PM A man walks into his doctors complaining of a hearing problem. "How would you describe the symptoms?" the doctor asks. "An animated cartoon family" the man replies. No? How about this one then. A man in a hot air balloon realised he was lost. He reduced altitude and spotted a woman below. He descended a bit more and shouted, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am. The woman below replied, "You're in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You're between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude." "You must be in IT," said the balloonist. "I am," replied the woman, "How did you know?" "Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I've no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help at all. If anything, you've delayed my trip." The woman below responded, "You must be in Management." "I am", replied the balloonist, "but how did you know?" "Well," said the woman, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You have risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise, which you've no idea how to keep, and you expect people beneath you to solve your problems. The fact is you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now, somehow, it's my bloomin' fault." |
