Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD XI: HIIGH BRIGHT NOON! From: GUEST Date: 25 Nov 02 - 02:12 PM Sorry if this has been covered before, but are these 'proper' CDs or CD-Rs |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD XI: HIIGH BRIGHT NOON! From: dick greenhaus Date: 25 Nov 02 - 05:56 PM These are CD-Rs. If you're worried about sound quality, there's no difference between glass-mastered "pressed" CDs and CD-Rs. If you're worried about longevity, these come with a lifetime warranty. If the disk fails, mail it to CAMSCO and we'll replace it free. |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD XI: HIIGH BRIGHT NOON! From: GUEST Date: 25 Nov 02 - 06:02 PM Whose lifetime? |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD XI: HIIGH BRIGHT NOON! From: GUEST Date: 25 Nov 02 - 06:08 PM Seriously, most CD-Rs will fail within 5 years, many a lot sooner. It's only fair to make potential purchasers aware of this fact. You're looking at a big bill by making that promise, Dick |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD XI: HIIGH BRIGHT NOON! From: Amos Date: 25 Nov 02 - 06:32 PM I reckon we're coming in to the last Mudcat CD thread!. I believe your negativity is unwarranted and petty, Guest. I haven't seen you contributing anything to this project -- I know you didn't send in any music, and I am willing to bet you haven't been helping Dick. You certainly didn't volunteer to front the cost of glass-mastering these CDs, did you? If all you have to volunteer is your civic halitosis, whyncha buzz off, huh? A |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD XI: HIIGH BRIGHT NOON! From: dick greenhaus Date: 25 Nov 02 - 09:26 PM clearly, it's better to press CDs than to burn 'em. Trouble is, it makes no economic sense to press 1000 copies of something that'll sell 100. I have CD-ROMS that are over 5 years old that work fine. It's possible that, if I had left them out in the sun wiothout a protective envelope or jewel case, they'd have failed. Oddly enough, I don't do that. Go to Mudcat CD XII (click) |
