It is conceivable that Trump could have a scheduling conflict on INAUGURATION DAY should he somehow win. In the unlikely event that he report to prison at 9 AM on the same day, what to do what to do?

Taking the oath to the Constitution from behind bars with a toilet behind him would be iconic. Of course Trump supporters are revolting, calling the law a weaponization of the government. I concede that the law has always been a weapon against crime.

Trump was informed that he is the target of a criminal probe.

Trump's defense has indicated that they will try and prove the Justice dept did something wrong and it is unfair. Jack Smith seems to be too careful to fall prey to that tactic. The Trump lawyers probably feel desperate for good reason.

If all they can do is accuse the accusers they are toast.

When I hear Trump supporters, as I have on a significant number of occasions recently, coming out with stuff like, “He has been put on Earth by God to be the President in perpetuity”, and declaring that Trump is actually the President right now and, along with a group of cohorts, is running the US under cover from Mar-a-Lago, whilst President Biden has been executed and actors are ‘playing’ him and all of the Senators and Representatives in Congress, I’m persuaded that there’s every chance of Trump’s re-election in 2024. It’s pretty clear that a significant number of American voters are probably misinformed and brainwashed enough to bring it about, aided and abetted by the archaic election system.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

In early use desert was often used in the singular, and just desert might not refer to a punishment, but to anything that was deserved. In modern use it is typically found in the plural, and just deserts almost always is in reference to a deserved punishment, rather than a reward. And remember that just deserts has nothing to do with post-prandial sweets, unless it is that the punishment that you deserve is to receive none of these things.

Looks like things are stepping up today, what with charges being made. It said on the Beeb news that further charges could be months away and any trial could easily be a year away. So the campaigning period could be an interesting mess.

The indictment is sealed and no one apart from the court knows what is in it except a list of charges reported by Trump's lawyers. The most serious is the espionage charge. trump likes to get out ahead of some issues to spin it. The spin so far is that Biden did this and has weaponized government. To which I say the justice dept. did this alone and that the law is and has always been a weapon against crime and criminals. When the indictment is officially unsealed more precise analysis can be done.

Joe Biden needs to step away from the controversies over Trump. So far, he is doing just that and I think he's wise to do so. You don't hear him mentioning Trump. If he were to break that silence, Trump would claim that it's him versus the government and that he's the victim of a witch-hunt. At the moment there isn't much traction in that claim and it needs to be kept that way.

Sections 22 & 23 - "TRUMP's Public Statements on Classified Information" - made me laugh out loud. Hoist by his own petard, indeed!

For example:

"22. As a candidate for President of the United States, TRUMP made the following public statements, among others, about classified information:

"a. On August 18, 2016 , TRUMP stated , In my administration going to

...and four more statements he made in 2016 and one in 2018.

The random appointment of Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump-appointed judge, has the power to dismiss the entire case come arraignment time.
Or she could delay the case for many months - which she did for Trump before. 2 Courts of Appeal did overrule her other rulings regarding Trump. I did not expect this unfortunate turning of the screw. All she needs to do is make 2 crazy rulings that get appealed and the case goes past the election. Or as I said before, she could dismiss the entire case!

I was wrong about people not being willing to put their life in jeopardy regarding the call to attack the Capitol. Losers who blame another race or political party are in fact willing to do crazy acts of revolting violence.

All of the evidence and testimony is coming from Trump and his own people/employees, White House staff and at his home in his own State.
Even his own personally appointed judge is involved.
Will this fact be lost on his base? I say yes. Republicans all doubled down for the insurrection within weeks. Those who now have changed their tune were hypocrites for Trump at a critical time.

Only the prosecutor is outside Donald's sphere. Trump's unhinged threats against him are a violent disgrace.
