Subject: Chords please?
From: Buzzer65

Hello again you beautiful people!
Can anyone help me out with the chords to Eric Bogle's Romeo and Juliet in Sarajevo? Some info on the intro would also be good. I have become clever enough to figure out chord sequences for myself. Especially old "three chord" Eric, but this has got me beat.
Thanks as usual in anticipation.
Dan Kelly

Really sorry people....It's not chords for Romeo and Juliet I want it's chords for "Vanya" by Eric Bogle.
I,m gettin' too old for this folk singin'!!    Dan Kelly
I changed the thread title to indicate the correct song.

Subject: Lyr Add: VANYA (Eric Bogle)

I can't provide chords, but here are the lyrics. It's a start; I don't think these lyrics have been posted at Mudcat before.

VANYA
As sung by Eric Bogle on "Mirrors" (1993)

Oh, Vanya, it's summertime but all the trees are dying.
They said there was no danger; they were lying.
What turned summer into winter we should fear.
Oh, Vanya, the poison in the trees is in your body,
And helpless I must watch as you fade quickly.
They tell me you won't see your fourteenth year.

Life will return again, they say.
Trees will bloom and grow again one day.
Though I may see the prophecy of brave new life be filled,
You never will.

Oh, Vanya, if only I could take the sickness from you,
And take it to myself, you know I would do.
How can you cure that which can't be cured?
Oh, Vanya, soon many more beloved sons and daughters
Will be mourned by their mothers and their fathers,
Left to endure what cannot be endured.

I was there when you were born.
I held you in my arms.
The love, the joy, the wonder I felt then and I feel still.
You never will.

Oh, Vanya, it's summertime but all the trees are dying.
They said there was no danger; they were lying.
What turned summer into winter we should fear.

I was there when you were born.
I held you in my arms.
The love, the joy, the wonder I felt then and I feel still.
You never will.
You never will.
