Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amos Date: 04 May 02 - 07:05 PM Amergin: I'm game!! If you like I could run a few chords in the background, quiet-like; or if you prefer, just include it as spoken. Lemme know!! A |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: katlaughing Date: 04 May 02 - 06:22 PM One of your poems, Nathan? That would be wonderful! |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amergin Date: 04 May 02 - 06:11 PM can it be reading? if not i would completely understand... |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amos Date: 04 May 02 - 06:04 PM Hey, how about "Ain't No Horse..." as a title? LOL! A |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amos Date: 04 May 02 - 05:22 PM And judging from the cuts coming in, we have a handsome share of the Salty of the Earth crowd right here on the Mudcat rolls! Hey guys -- it's the weekend, right? Isn't this the purrrrrrfect time to make that darn tape, CD or MP3 file before the gentle hours slip over the horizon? This is a matter of your legacy to the world, after all!! :>) C'moon, friends and folkies:

Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: katlaughing Date: 03 May 02 - 03:18 PM Dave, in Wyoming, being "salt of the earth" is one of the highest of compliments... consider yerself com-plee-men-ted, as that's what I meant!*bg* Two-hands, indeed! I heard that pickin'! LOL |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 03 May 02 - 02:03 PM Kat, I'm bemused: What is a "salt-of-the-earth voice?" No, don't bother to answer. I am going to choose to take that as a compliment and not inquire further. I'm glad you liked what you heard. Dave (only two hands) Oesterreich |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amos Date: 03 May 02 - 01:52 PM Kat: LOL!! Put the imponderable on the outside? The "What Is Folk Music at the Mudcat Cafe!??" ROTFLMAO! We could put a footnote: "Ain't No horses were harmed in the production of this CD"! A |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amos Date: 03 May 02 - 12:49 PM Hi, Sis!! Sorry to be dense. Prime Cuts is kicky, indeed. I am just keeping the lists open to see what sort of things pop up -- it's not like I can just make a unilateral decision here!! :>) Now, about when I was nine.... ... naaaww, let's not go there!! LOL! A |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: katlaughing Date: 03 May 02 - 12:48 PM IMO, it needs to be on the outside so that people see it right away and know what the heck they are looking at... fwiw, I like "Mudcat Sampler"...sorry, Deda, "Prime Cuts" sounds too much like meat to this veggie:-) Brainstorming, here are a few others... Mudcat Bounty Catch of the Day from the Mudcat Cafe.... Mudcat Cafe-What is folk (& blues)...or, Whatis folk & blues from the Mudcat Cafe |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Deda Date: 03 May 02 - 12:25 PM Amos, did you see my earlier suggestion? Prime cuts from the Cafe. Or just -- Mudcat Cafe: Prime Cuts. It's not as euphonious as someone's earlier, cleverer "mad cuts from the mudcat", but it's still kinda kicky. (I swear, it's just as hard to get his attention here as it was when he was nine.) |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amos Date: 03 May 02 - 12:21 PM Sharp observation, Kat! The liner notes could cover that, also. A |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: katlaughing Date: 03 May 02 - 12:17 PM If this is going to marketed to anyone outside of the Mudcat, there needs to be some explanation as a subtitle, such as ..."from the Mudcat Cafe, a virtual and 3D worldwide community of folk and blues musicians..." |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amos Date: 03 May 02 - 12:10 PM Song Among the Flames? Mudcat and the 'Orrible Trolls? "Forum Home"??? A |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Devilmaster Date: 03 May 02 - 11:37 AM If looking for a name for it, look for something that is universal on the site. Perhaps - 'Create a New Thread' - 'MudCat FAQ - Newcomer's Guide' or.. - 'Watch out for Spaw!' :) |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amos Date: 03 May 02 - 11:35 AM Callie: I discovered there was an erroneous character in the link to part II of the Mudcat CD thread. Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Tweed Date: 03 May 02 - 06:34 AM I'll second that Steve. However there will be a need for another illustration for the cover of the disc itself and for the booklet, etc. |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Stephen L. Rich Date: 03 May 02 - 01:51 AM Allright, Amos. You got me fair and square. *G* My goofy jokes aside, I still like "Blue Plate Special" and I really, really like homeless's art work for it. On that part i think we should quit while we're ahead. Steve |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: michaelr Date: 03 May 02 - 01:11 AM Callie - try the blue link at the top of Amos's first post for the previous discussion, with instructions. Welcome to the fray! Michael |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Callie Date: 02 May 02 - 11:34 PM Hi Amos & all I've arrived at this discussion late in the piece (ie - today). Do we physically post you cds, or e-mail you MP3s? Where to?? And regardless of whether we're selcted or not, what help can those of us across the waters lend? Callie |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Bobert Date: 02 May 02 - 11:09 PM Hey, Amos, I know that I've got a twisted sense of humor butt (no pun intended) I like the "Catbox Review"... No, I'm just funnin'... Blue Plate Review or something like that would work just fine. But if you like the Catbox idea I'm sure it wouldn't take a lot of imagination for the art work. Nevermind... |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amos Date: 02 May 02 - 10:49 PM Mudpiddles? Geeze, Steve, getcher mind out of the gutter!! This is a high-flown arteestic creyashun we are negaged in here!! LOL!!! Think about this for a sec -- this is a planetary coordinated work of art, near-real-time in the larger scale of things, an amazing feat of international cooperation and harmony. I dunno if anything like it has been done since FDR sang the Boogie-Woogie Bugler Boy to Winston Churchill! (Well, I don't KNOW that he sang that particular tune, but you get the idea,,,). ***bg*** A |

Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Lonesome EJ Date: 02 May 02 - 08:59 PM Petal to the Muddle? Mudpetals? arrrrggghhh.....
|
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 02 May 02 - 08:14 PM Petal to the Metal is a great name for an album. Maybe not this album? Though you could have as a subtitle Mudcat Sampler 1. |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Barbara Shaw Date: 02 May 02 - 07:12 PM How about just calling it "A Mudcat Sampler - Part I" like one of the threads? The subtitle could be "Tasty cuts from the folks at the Mudcat Cafe at mudcat.org" That would leave the way open for future samplers, and also describe who and what it is. |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Amos Date: 02 May 02 - 06:28 PM All right! I need to confess that the word "Petal" got put in the title by an Act of Dog. But it does seem kinda purdy, huh? "A wide, pink-edged rose petal, blown in through the open window of a gigantic diesel rig, drifting on a soft evening breeze in summer, slowly sttles down and lands on the scraped, hard-worn shiny steel surface of the giant engine's accelerator pedal...and for just an instant, force and beauty are in perfect harmony." Peter, i can't wait to hear ya! Likewise Uncle Dave, CS..it's exciting as hell. I use the word "cut" to indicate a song, a single entry on the CD; there isn't any "making the cut" in the sense of inclusion or not if I can manage it; it would be awfully hard to explain!! :>) Let me make it clear that I do not intend to leave anyone off the CD, if I can help it. It is really a question of how many tracks I can fit in. If you send me three cuts I may only be able to use one due to space limitations. Kat -- that's a grand idea! I have a full head of steam on the Mudcat Sampler CD but expanding it into zones, or countries would be great for the next round, as we get our arms around the processes used and all. Assuming I don't explode or somep'n. If we do it sampler style in a one- or two-disk package, does anyone have a snazzy name for it other than Blue Plate Special? Magical Mudcat Minstrel Tour? The Mudcat Buffet -- All You Can Hear? Five and Ten Planet? (huh? Where's that come from?) Planet Mudcat? Maybe it should be a Blue Planet Special from the Mudcat Cafe? Stir those Gray Brains, guys, and if no-one comes up with a better handle, we'll possibly use Blue Plate Special but I gotta tell ya I am very loath to mess with The Faire One ... I am still showing shilelagh dents in me skull from the last time!! :>) Very best regards, A |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: katlaughing Date: 02 May 02 - 05:57 PM Finally having a chance to listen to Uncle DaveO's tape...just as I remembered from HearMe and Paltalk...superb! Wait 'til ya'll hear about "damn the libido, I'd rather make coffee than love!" I love the other two cuts as well. Great pickin'...what have ya got, Dave, four hands, at least?*bg* Salt of the earth voice, too. Thanks for the "advance" listen. At this point it might be easier to do like Alan of Oz and Áine have done with their midi and song pages, produce several CD's, in alphabetical order, according to Mudcat name. I'd rather hear everyone than just the ones who make a "cut." Could do it by country, too, so that we could have "bangers and mash," "vegemite from Oz," etc. to go with the blue plate special. |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: UB Ed Date: 01 May 02 - 10:36 PM So, Amos, now that you have received over 100,000 offerings from various 'Catters, how many different cds will you produce? I'd not envy anyone the task of having to come up with 15-20 from this huge selection... Ed |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Celtic Soul Date: 01 May 02 - 10:12 PM YEEHAW!!! I finally got my bands 4 songs burned to CD. Sheeit, but that was painful...our CD burner went all kerphlooey on us. In any case, it'll be in the mail tomorrow...this weekend at the latest! |
Subject: RE: MUDCAT CD FOUR' Petal to the Metal! From: Ebbie Date: 01 May 02 - 10:06 PM OK, Amos, I know you are a writer, so I have to assume that you're saying 'petal' with a purpose in mind. Is it meant to evoke visions and aromas of summertime blooms? |

We are cooking here, Folkies -- and I have to add that I am constantly being blown away by the sheer loveliness of some of these sonfs. I am hard pressed to choose among some of these great candidates, honestly, but I'm doing my best. My office is beginning to look like Max's bachelor pad!! We are coming around the curve on collecting candidates for this Global Songfest on CD and there are people generating art, and planning to help with sound edits for balance and filters, and all kinds of tapes and MP3s still being workled on out there. As a reminder, here's the rough production schedule:
Collection of Candidates ---- up to end of May I am cheering you all on if you're still in work and I really want ALL those voices on this amazing musical omnibus. Lemme hear ya makin' music. now!!! Regards, A. Search for "MUDCAT CD" threads |
