Subject: Ladino labor songs From: GUEST,JGF Date: 30 Mar 23 - 07:07 AM Does anyone out there know any labor songs in Ladino (a.k.a. Judesmo, Judeo-espanyol, the longtime language of Jews expelled from Iberia)? In the early 20th century there was a lively Ladino-speaking labor movement, especially in Salonika/Thessaloniki, and I have even read a memoir of the Salonika socialist leader Abraham Benaroya, where he mentions going to Athens and teaching labor songs to the Greeks. But even after asking a couple of experts I haven't found any records of labor songs sung in Ladino. Is there anyone out there who knows any? |

Just Googling Salonika socialist leader Abraham Benaroya labor songs gives a rich array of results, though if they lead to labor songs, I couldn't say. |
