George Harrison - tumor reported (July 2001)

It has been reported that former Beatle, George Harrison is receiving treatment in a Swiss clinic for what is apparently a brain tumour. A report on his condition is expected. George has had ops previously for tumours on his lung and neck. We wish him a speedy recovery.

George Harrison's cancer began in the throat and lung as a direct consequence of his cigarette smoking. That is a fact the he, himself, had acknowledged publicly in the past year.

A report in the newspaper today said that the cancer had spread to his brain and that he was receiving radiation in an attempt to shrink an inoperable tumor.

Even if you're one of the richest men in the world, smoking will kill you.

Good luck to George Harrison and everyone else battling against cancer. It took one of my students earlier this year and my mother last April. One of my favourite buskers around here is Mississippi Mike, a slide guitarist who had a run in with cancer a couple of years back. He's a tough bloke. It was the cancer that had to die!
