I watched George Best two years ago on telvision and that one he got with the thick make up and bleach. She was crawling all over him on the sofa, saying I never knew love like this. Christ the man was dying then. It paid her. Sorry ladies, it will have to be my looks that attract you ! |

Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: gnu Date: 18 May 06 - 03:12 PM There a hell of a diffrerence between being nasty and poking fun. As for her disability, I did not see one joke about her mental capacity. And, as far as a pre-nup, she offered to sign one and Paul wouldn't hear of it. Then again, Paul doesn't even know what a map is. Sings pretty good though. |

Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: gnu Date: 18 May 06 - 08:01 PM "No reason is valid enough to take the piss out of a woman who lost a limb in a road accident." Shite, for $236M US cash, I'd consider gnawing my own leg off. Of course, I would never take the piss out of her for losing her leg in an accident. But, for harrassing and trying to pet a seal? Well, I wish the pup had bitten her other leg off. Stunned bitch. |

Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: Divis Sweeney Date: 18 May 06 - 08:07 PM Always sad to see a marriage end for anyone. The sadest thing is expect the Sunday papers to run the stories of what happened in private. The guy is known to be tight with money, she said this was a fault, nothing wrong with that. This marriage was never going to work in my opinion he never got over Linda's death and thought happiness could be found again, impossible if you don't or can't let go of someone who was simply everything to you. |
Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: gnu Date: 18 May 06 - 08:07 PM Yeah... I know. It's just that I can't get over that one. I mean, $1.5B and not even a GPS... or a brain. But, he sings pretty good, eh? |
Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: Big Al Whittle Date: 18 May 06 - 08:08 PM oh sod it they're rich.....they can take care of themselves. a good part of their millions is due to the glare of publicity that they court. think of all those hours of crap television, when he has churned out an album, knowing full well that the completists will buy it - even though he's got sod all to say artistically. the adulatory interviews. as for Long Jane Silver, well would you have known she had one leg if you hadn't been informed of the fact with brain buggering regularity. And did you really need his daughter's dress designs to know that ladies look nice in silk lingerie. If you want to accord him reverence whilst his late wife's awful sausages are still giving you indigestion. so be it. you're daft. as someone who has been married to a disabled lady for god knows hows long, I can say with some authority that if you expect the marriage to be a normal (hi honey I'm home) gig - then you're daft again. as parkinson is always saying, tell us Paul, what makes you so wonderful and nice and talented. and look at the breadth of your humanity, you've married a disabled woman. wot a nice bloke. hats off to the mop top........ bad taste......give me a break, but no, not one of those bloody sausages. |

Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: Hrothgar Date: 19 May 06 - 06:53 AM Does taste have to be compulsory with humour? There go most of the jokes I know ... |
Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: John MacKenzie Date: 19 May 06 - 07:13 AM It depends on two things Hrothgar. 1 is whether the person criticising the joke has got a sense of humour themselves. 2 is whether the person criticising the joke likes or dislikes the poster involved. I for instance have a regular anonymous [they think] Guest who trys to put me down, and I hope one day she will realise it is a waste of her time. So it boils down to whether you find something funny or not. Giok |
Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: Betsy Date: 19 May 06 - 07:13 AM Apparently she'd hopping mad about the whole business |
Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: freda underhill Date: 19 May 06 - 07:51 AM Giok & Hrothgar This humour thing is very complicated - I know that sometimes my Australian sense of irony flys right past people from some other countries (at present I'm staying in austria) and I have to be careful. I noticed on another thread Ebbie commenting about people's dismissive comments of epileptics, voicing her concern at implications that they were mentally ill. I wanted to comment on that thread but didn't - it's a bit like black jokes and Irish or Polish jokes - the attitude of the person commenting rings through. As the recent purchaser of a new hip, I think Giok is in a good position to make one legged jokes, and i always enjoy his outrageous jokes. I hear many dreadful jokes that I laugh at and find funny. But sometimes there is an element of cruelty or ridicule - whenever a joke moves into ridicule or sadistic enjoyment of someone's hurt, that's when my politically correct hackles rise. In this case, yes, I loved the Beatles and and it seemed too personal. and BTW, an Irishman came into the pub, and shouted drinks all round because his wife had just given birth to a big, healthy baby boy. The new father was very proud, the baby was a beautiful baby and weighs 25 pounds. Everyone was very impressed (though his wife was still finding it difficult to walk properly) and drinks continued all through the evening. The next week the man came back again, even happier because the baby had been given a thorough check by the doctor and was doing very well, and was weighed at 17 pounds! The people in the asked why the baby had lost so much weight, if he was doing so well, and the father explained that he had just been circumsized.. freda (running out the door) |
Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: GUEST,Bruce Baillie Date: 19 May 06 - 09:00 AM Interesting thing here, we're always told disabled people want to be treated exactly like other human beings, if that's the case why can't we take the piss out of them occasionally? (In a light hearted non-threatening way of course!) Or should we ban humour once and for all as being politically incorrect? |
Subject: RE: BS: Looks like Paul McCartney... From: Dave the Gnome Date: 19 May 06 - 10:38 AM I don't see anyone taking the piss out of her disability here. For her for taking Macca to the cleaners? Yes. For having only one leg? No. For Macca being a plonker? Yes. For him marrying someone with a disability? No. Serious business out of the way... South African miner loses his leg in a terrible accident. "Jeez," he says "Where can a one legged gold digger get a job nowadays?" "Try Paul McCartney..." Cheers :D (TG) |
