Subject: RE: The Beatles in Hamburg From: GUEST Date: 10 May 02 - 06:32 PM Voorman is obviously trying to make some pennies off his days with the Beatles, but the cartoon stuff is pretty good. The little box that you click for "Hamburg Days" is a pretty interesting tour of old hangouts. |

Subject: The Beatles in Hamburg From: Lonesome EJ Date: 10 May 02 - 03:52 PM In the early 60s, the Beatles played the dives and strip bars of Hamburg. While playing long sets in front of hardcore fans, they developed the music that would revolutionize rock and roll. Klaus Voorman was there, and his artwork was later used by the Beatles for the cover of Revolver. On his website, he has a gallery of paintings of the early days at the Kaiserkeller and the Top Ten Club, and they are great snapshots of the era. I thought some Catters might be interested. I love the "Top Ten Morning" and "Top Ten Night" paintings, as well as the one of Lennon face down in his breakfast. |
