Subject: Italian tune 1960s From: Alan Day Date: 03 Feb 10 - 05:30 PM Early in the 1960s a tune played and sung by an Italian group (Cha Cha timing) just got into the top twenty. I have been listening to a Swedish Concertina Group playing a Folk Tune and suddenly I remember the similarity between the Concertina tune and the Italian one. Could it have been something like "Pepipito Pepito" it was a very catchy little tune and we came back from Italy with a copy of it. Your assistance would be appreciated. Al |

Subject: RE: Italian tune 1960s From: Alan Day Date: 03 Feb 10 - 06:23 PM You have got it !! The group I remember was Muchacambos singing this. Now does anyone recognise a Folk tune in it? Even I am impressed with my memory naming the tune after all these years. Thank you very much for finding it for me. Al |

Subject: RE: Italian tune 1960s From: Alan Day Date: 04 Feb 10 - 03:43 AM I have listened more carefully to the Concertina recording and ,I am not sure about the Folk connection. It sounds like a really old Tango. At the time of Pepito there was a great interest in Cha Cha and I wonder if this Tango has been bent to change the rhythms. Al |
