Lyr/Chords Req: Il Fiume Amaro

Hi,

I'm looking for lyrics and possibly guitar chords to a song that my dad and a bunch of his pals often sing. It's an old Italian song that they've been singing for years called "Il fume amaro". Sound familiar??

It was popular in Italy at the beginning of the '70. The correct spelling is 'Il fiume amaro' (the bitter river). I can remember the melody but only sparse words of the lyric. I will ask my wife. Stay tuned. Ciao Ezio

My wife remembers only the first stanza:

C'e' un fiume amaro dentro me
Il sangue della mia ferita
Ma ancora di piu' e' amaro il bacio
Che sulla bocca mia mi ferisce ancor

Translation:
There's a bitter river inside me
The blood of my wound
But more bitter is the kiss
that still is wounding my lips

Probably it was sung by a singer named Iva Zanicchi. We can't remember what's this lyric about.

So, you get your lyrics. I also remembered just same words and the problem was that both me and Ezio remembered wrong: the mouth of the song is "your" (tua) not "my" (mia), which is quite strange. Correcting the spelling it is not so hard to find it in the web. The song was interpreted in italian by Iva Zanicchi (now one of the more passionated among Berlusconi's supporter on his TV:s) but it's greek, it was composed by Miki Theodorakis during the time he spent in the jail as politic prisioner. Is one of the more popular greek songs, in Greece, by summer, you can hear it in the most various versions in every bar or restaurant.
