Subject: Lyr Req: Firemen pounding From: Abby Sale Date: 08 Feb 03 - 07:16 PM Just heard a startling song sung by Tom Paxton on Archie Fisher's radio show. It kept blipping off but as I recall: Now every time I try to sleep I'm troubled by the sound Of firemen pounding up the stairs While we were running down. I don't see anything likely at CDNow. Any notion what record this might be on? |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Firemen pounding From: open mike Date: 09 Feb 03 - 03:19 AM this is the sontg THE BRAVEST and is from his most recent CD Looking For The Moon. Only one problem-as a female fire fighter, the use of the term "firemen", leaves out my sisters who perished in the towers. The image of rescuers running into a burning bldg. is a heroic one, however, and the song is very moving. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Firemen pounding From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 09 Feb 03 - 12:01 PM I know there are women firefighters, and they risk their lives as much as their male comrades but I thought the NYFD firefighters who died in the towers were in fact all male. Here's a site with pictures. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Firemen pounding From: open mike Date: 09 Feb 03 - 05:10 PM there are more, but this one news item is avaialable from my files at this time: Yamel Jager Merino, an EMT from Brooklyn, NY died in the collapse of the south tower. Merino, 24, who was a single mother of an 8 year old son, was helping a patient in the stairwell. Incredible to see all those faces and realize they are no longer with us--such a great loss. |
