Subject: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 17 Jun 05 - 06:23 PM The Mudcat 'Just Desserts' cookbook is almost ready - it's up to 60+ recipes and on its final edit. It has 6 chapters, conversion charts, glossary, illustrations and hints. It will probably be available in 3 formats if I can get it to work.... CD Rom Paper book form WinZip file. I could Email it but it's got illustrations and is a huge file. Please indicate here if you would like a copy and PM me mailing details. Thank you to everyone who contributed... sorry if I didn't include your contribution but we had a little computer problem last year and I lost a whole heap of files. There is no charge for these books, I only ask that you donate at least $10.00 or £7.50 (or the local equivalent) for each copy to Mudcat. LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: freda underhill Date: 18 Jun 05 - 02:02 AM what a fantastic thing to do Liz - now I can eat sweet things and not feel guilty! Can't wait! |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: rich-joy Date: 18 Jun 05 - 02:52 AM Thank you SO MUCH, for all your hard work, LtS!! MUCH appreciated. I'd still like a hard copy (I'll PM you the postal address). Now I'm in OZ - should I send YOU just the postage costs via Paypal - and then the US$10.00 donation direct to Mudcat??? Or what ... What do you suggest? Cheers! R-J |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 18 Jun 05 - 03:27 AM Hadn't thought about postage costs. I may try and send a bunch to one address per continent and ask people out of the kindness of their wossnames to pass/post on from there. Let me see how big this thing gets first! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: Dave'sWife Date: 18 Jun 05 - 12:46 PM I volunteer to deliver some to West Coast USA addresses. If it's cheaper for you to send five or six to me and then have ME package them up and send them on individually, I can do that. I think sending you postage costs via Paypal is a great idea. I already have a great regional dessert for Volume Two! I got a recipe for this weird Rhode Island delicacy called Rice Pudding Cake. It's a little bit like the Italian Easter Pie recipe I gave you but enough different and enough of i's own thing to warrant its one page in a future edition. |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: SharonA Date: 18 Jun 05 - 01:40 PM Liz: Does the cookbook include the recipe for "Kitty Litter Cake"? I posted it on Mudcat a couple of years ago, but I don't know if there was a thread on which I should have submitted it for the cookbook (I've been sporadic in my Mudcat-reading of late). It's made of crumbly cake and chocolate Tootsie-Roll "turds", preferably served in a rectangular cake pan with a brand new, never-used-for-the-real-thing metal litter-scooper. If I missed the submission discussion, ah well, I can always submit the recipe for Volume Two, as Dave's Wife says. Sharon |

Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 18 Jun 05 - 06:57 PM As in getting your just deserts.... but there's just desserts in the book. No main courses - unless like me, your starter is chocolate biscuits, your main course is chocolate cake and your pudding chocolate mousse...... LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: sixtieschick Date: 19 Jun 05 - 02:20 AM Gee, does "Kitty Litter Cake" have anything to do with "Dump Cake?" (I think that title was about dumping in the flour, sugar, etc.) M. |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 19 Jun 05 - 02:50 AM I can't find either so if you want to PM me the recipes I'll see if I can squeeze them in under the wire! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: Sorcha Date: 19 Jun 05 - 08:59 AM I would prefer hard copy, but I can print my own from CD if you like. I think you have my address info. |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: GUEST, Jos Date: 22 Jun 05 - 06:43 AM I'd like one in book form please, Liz. And could you add something about the easiest way to send the money to Mudcat? I hope you've been getting more orders via PMs - otherwise there doesn't seem a very good response for all your hard work. |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 22 Jun 05 - 08:04 AM Always room for more..... Cheapest way is to put it on CDrom and you print out your own copy, otherwise I'd have to charge for them. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: GUEST,MMario Date: 22 Jun 05 - 08:30 AM I'm in for a CD please LtS! It can come over in October if that is easiest. |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: GUEST, Jos Date: 22 Jun 05 - 09:36 AM Well, with a CD I could just print out the recipes I want, but you said earlier that you might be able to do it in paper book form, and I was thinking that would be easier to read in bed. |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 22 Jun 05 - 09:39 AM Isn't that what lap tops are for?!! The whole book would be on the CD, so you could print it out and when it gets ratty and stained, you can print out another! Or you could just print out the page you require at a time? LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: Jos Date: 22 Jun 05 - 09:44 AM I haven't got a laptop, but if the CD is easier (obviously it would be) then I'll go for that. |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: rich-joy Date: 10 Jul 05 - 08:42 AM what's the latest, Lts?! when / where do I send my buckeroos for one hard copy - and how many?! Cheers! R-J (hungry in Oz) |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: rich-joy Date: 28 Oct 05 - 02:11 AM Don't know what the current status of this wonderful cookbook project is, but perhaps 'Catters may like to satisfy their hunger for awhile with Paul Lawler's fun CD of Recipe Songs : "A Taste of Good Music" : http://www.peculiarhand.com/pages/atogm.html It's also related in that the harmony vocals are by a great trio called (wait for it!) : The Just Desserts!!! Checkout the rest of their website at : http://www.peculiarhand.com Cheers! R-J Down Under (and yes, I confess : a member of The Just Desserts) PS I'd still love a hardcopy of the Just Desserts cookbook, LtS - what's the latest news on its publication??? |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: Liz the Squeak Date: 28 Oct 05 - 03:20 AM Major failure on the copying it to disc front. Somehow there is no provision on the programme for 'closing' the disc, so it will only play on this computer..... I'm trying to work round this or fix it... but I'm a computer moron so it's taking a while! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: It's HERE (almost) ~ Just Desserts! From: rich-joy Date: 28 Oct 05 - 04:33 AM Well, Best of Luck, Liz! - and full play to you then, for even attempting this project - I'm sure we all appreciate the effort :~))) Cheers! R-J |
