Subject: CD BABY and Hurricane Relief From: dwditty Date: 01 Sep 05 - 04:58 PM This is not an ad for CD Baby, but Derek Sivers has done something good there. He has set it up so that musicians who sell their cd on CD Baby can donate 100% of the proceeds from their CD sales to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to aid in the efforts in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. Go to CD Baby and click the "for Charity" section for a list (by musical genre) of the more than 5000 artists who have signed up. You can preview the CDs, and, through any purchases you make, know you are doing a little bit to help. Kudos to CD Baby. dw |

Subject: RE: CD BABY and Hurricane Relief From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 01 Sep 05 - 07:10 PM Last night I sent an e-mail to Andrew Calhoun at Waterbug Records saying I wanted to do this with the CD I issued on his good label. He promptly let CD Baby know. It looks like other folk friends of ours, independantly, feel the same way. The count of folk-related musicians at CD Baby doing this is over SEVEN HUNDRED right now. Quite amazing. That is, by far, more than for any other musical niche. Way to go, folkies!!! People, this devastating happening along thr gulf coast is like a hit with a nuclear bomb, but without the radiation! I feel as if I'm in shock--and powerless. But we must do what we can.----I wish it was more. Art |
